This book was so much fun! I just love the Squirrel Girl comics and it was fun to read about her origin story! Shannon Hale was really true to Ryan North and Erica Henderson's character. I really loved the cameos (via text messages) from Marvel heroes and the footnotes - which really echo the comics' footnotes and opening-page twitter feeed. And the chapters from Tippy Toe's point of view with all the Jersey squirrel slang is pretty funny. I can't recommend Squirrel Girl - the comics and now this book - enough for young girls who need awesome butt-kicking role models. Squirrel Girl is smart, strong and hilarious. She's genuine, passionate and never snarky. She cares about her friends, about learning and about the world. She's my hero!

What a fun read. I've read several Squirrel Girl comics so I decided to give a novelization of her story a try and I'm glad I did. It was a fun read seeing fourteen year old Doreen Green on the written page for over 300 pages. My favorite part of the book are the text exchanges between Doreen and several Avengers. Doreen's number one squirrel sidekick, Tippy Toe, sneaks into the Avengers mansion and finds a cell phone on a nightstand and scratches some cell numbers onto an acorn so Doreen can hopefully get help and advice from them. The texts that ensue are very entertaining, especially those with not a hero Tony Stark. A fun read and I plan to pick up the second book in the future.

Another enjoyable and funny installment of Squirrel Girl. I've enjoyed both books in this series. It's fun seeing Squirrel Girl in book format and the authors do a great job staying true to her story. I think kids who enjoy books told through journal entries and/or texts will especially find this a fun read. Squirrel Girl's trademark wit is present throughout the entire novel, but especially shines through in her texts with Iron Man and the Winter Solider.
