Right off the bat, I think one of the things I enjoy the most about the series isn’t the badass characters, or use of profanity and the ways they go to get what they want. I think it’s the consistency of characters, story, theme, and pace. With the Callahans there are no surprises, and before you think the book would be boring because there are no surprises let me explain. There will always be enemies, other families trying to throw punches, and the Callahans will punch back, probably harder, but what I mean is that the character act consistently and accordingly, and even if they develop (in character) they’re still true to their original beliefs. I think this is something very difficult to achieve – to have characters change in very miniscule ways and not change overall.
 
When you’re in the business of killing people to achieve your goals there is no one who is untouchable.
 Everyone has a weakness and everyone can be made to submit. Even the great Liam and Melody have their limits.
 Finally coming together as one big family they’re making their play to take over America. However in their quest for world domination someone unexpected from Melody’s past is going to get in the way.
 With a new threat at every turn no one is safe, no one is untouchable, and both Melody and Liam are going to have to come face to face with their demons together or not at all.
 
I’ll do my best not to spoil, or spell anything wrong, God forbid cause I can hardly see what I’m writing, but there’s so much that I want to talk about but I don’t want to spoil!
 Let me just touch base on how BADASS Melody and Liam are.
 One of my favourite power couples EVER.
 It’s nice reading romance novels about how the guy takes care of the woman and helps her grow blah blah blah. Like how many of those have you read? Yes, I as a vulnerable and mentally weak female would like a man to take care of me, at least in the sense of supporting me. But as a stubborn woman…it’s hard. It’s really FECKING hard, to admit that you need someone. Liam and Melody have been struggling with this for a while and will continue to struggle because they are hard-headed individuals. They are strong separate but need to realize they’re stronger together.
 
“You’re sexy when you are mean.”
 “I’m always sexy,” I whispered back.
 He grinned. “You’re always mean.”

In a lot of cases people say that blood is thicker than water. I say to hell with that saying, but the Callahan family are practically the embodiment of that saying. They will do whatever, it takes, no matter what the measures are, to keep their own family safe. However this being said, some people in this book are just….crazy.
 True colours are finally revealed and in this novel we find that there are those in the family that can’t be trusted. It’s a hard thing to wrap around when Liam and Melody are just barely keeping it together while the family is trying to save face as an extended member will do anything to destroy them.
 
“My wife tries to murder me every other week. A few of those times, have in fact led to combat…amongst other things.”
 
I think one of the reasons I’m totally in love with this book and this series because it’s just so different. It’s so violent and honest and they couldn’t give a flying eff what other people thought of them so long as the Callahans ruled.
 It’s not a sappy love story, and romantic isn’t one of the words I’d use to describe the series, but I’d say if you’re looking for a steady pace, action packed, mafia themed series (which I haven’t seen too many of or maybe I’m just not looking properly), then this book and series is definitely for you. It’s just a nice change of pace compared to all the contemporary romance you may be reading a lot of.

1) The Italian in this? Still weird--please, please ASK SOMEONE WHO SPEAKS IT AND AVOID GOOGLE AS THOUGH IT CARRIED A DISEASE.
2)The Drama? Bring. It. On. This book has given serious Scandal vibes, and who am I to deny enjoying them?

OH.MY.GOD. THAT ENDING!!!!! 

This was a great follow-up to Ruthless People. The last part of the book had me on edge and I really can't wait for the next book. I loved how Liam and Mel's relationship has progressed since the first book, they were really sweet in a fucked up way. And I really hope Olivia dies in the next book and Neal realizes what a crazy bitch she is *fingers crossed*.

Obsessed with this series. Ends on a major cliffhanger so I bought the next one right away, and I never buy books. I love the family dynamics and how every book is focused on the main boss couple but we still get a rounded out story and see what’s going on with everyone else.
