OMG!!!!! This book was AMAZING!! whew! honestly wish i could get super eloquent and all that but all i have is amazing..Loved the characters, there were some gritty scences in the book that mad my jaw drop though, totally unexpected but good all the same. However, cant help feeling we didnt get a whole lot of Rojer though also now that i think of it for a book that's called the warded man, there isn't really a lot of the warded man when he actually becomes the warded man. Also, thinking back to Leesha and i'm really confused here do people just catch feelings immediately they see each other? For a moment i thought she was giving in to the warded man because of what happened then all of a sudden they genuinely seem to sort of tentatively care for each other. anyways really great book can't wait to start the other ones P.S: Am i allowed to curse Jadir?? i hope he dies or something but knowing my luck he'll probably come out victorious. ugh

Such a great book!!!

Great start, a little disappointing towards the ending

The Painted Man was the first adult fantasy book I ever read and it pulled me in and ignited my passion for reading. Re-reading it now, maybe ten years after I initially read it, is an experience. I'm reminded of my past self's reactions and amazement as well as my love for these characters. On the other hand, having read much since then and having grown as well, I can see the flaws of this book more clearly. It's a bit cringe at times and has a partial love-at-first-sight trope. However, I have been going through a book slump recently, struggling to finish a 300-page book. And I picked this 544 chonk book and read it in one go.

At sunset, demons rise from the Core, hunting humans. Wards are placed on homes to keep them away, but every night more humans die. They feel helpless against the corelings. They have no way to fight back. Stories have begun popping up about The Warded Man. They say he kills corelings. Maybe there is a chance for humans after all. I absolutely loved this book. Such a great story, and I found myself totally invested in the characters.

Yet another unfinished series to wait on the author.
