This was awesome. I love getting hooked in a book. 

This is not my go-to genre but I was looking for something with a creepy edge when I bought this book. This is my first Owen Laukkanen book and I hope everything else is available in hardcover because that’s the way I prefer my favorites. 

So this is the fifth book in this series and you do not have to read them in order to enjoy and understand what’s going on. Like most series, you may benefit from starting with the first book in the series if you want to see the characters introduced and follow the development. 

I really like both the characters Stevens and Windermere. As I started with this book, I don’t entirely know their back stories. Stevens appears to be a family man and balances out the zealous Windermere. She rushes in to situations in this book and thinks about the repercussions for herself. 

It’s a book about a lot of problems, bullying, internet predators, suicide, depression, law loopholes, child abuse and the lasting effects. The writing and presentation of the book are spot on. There is a solid conclusion. I hate to be left with questions at the end of a book. The most important thing, I started this book with the intention of testing it to see if it could hold my interest. It did, and I read in every spare minute and was excited to settle in this evening and finish it.
