The verse, rendered by Humphries, is phenomenal, but Lucretius is a teacher of evil.

This translation is beautiful.

Can't in good conscience give it 5 stars for the reason I can't give most historical texts the full 5: inevitable sexism. This one is actually quite good for the most part, but it has its moments of "um?!"

So. Gorgeous poetry and philosophy. A reliable favourite. But still, a product of its time in the occasional uncomfortable moment.
