Honestly waaaay better as a reread. The Elend/Vin drama was a bit tough, but everything else was amazingly crafted

Compared to the first part, this book is much slower, although the author does a good job of keeping the reader hooked, as he jumps from character to character. However, one does wonder if a lot of things could have been done away with and made the story bit faster paced, like the first part. Having said this, the last 100-150 pages are absolutely 10/10.

Overall, its still an amazing read and the book sets up for the final part very well. Expected nothing less from the author after reading the first part.

Basically my review of the entire series:

This entire series just trades world building for character work. Most of them talk the same, have simple motivations and one-note character arcs. Sanderson's language and prose doesn't have enough personality to truly surprise you or grab your attention. Although that isn't a flaw in itself, combined with the lack of flavour in the other aspects of his writing, the series just left me feeling a little "eh". The world building, set pieces and general concepts of the story can be really exciting, but imho aren't the foundations that you build a story on.

I was hoping for a better introduction to the biggest name in contemporary sci-fi and fantasy. Have doubts about picking up the stormlight archive now.

Dragged a bit, too political but great sense of being part of something bigger that I didn't get in the first book

I love this world and the writing, but not as much as I did in the last book. The majority of the book is about Vin and her internal struggles, questioning morals and perspective. I think it brought out some interesting angles of the situation that a lot of other books would have failed to include. With the majority of the plot being centered around Vin’s personal development, the external factors felt like a daunting weight that sat there almost the entire book. The waiting armies, assassins, and Counsel filled the scene with dread and tension that escalated the plot’s development. The uncertainties kept me on my toes, wondering what will happen or what would be the right decision for them to make. Although I didn’t like the waiting, it made the scene more authentic and ultimately came together beautifully in the end. Speaking of the end. Oh. My. Goodness. THE PLOT TWIST. I never saw it coming, it was so creative, and I can’t help but wonder how the last book will pan out.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action. The impossible has been accomplished. The Lord Ruler--the man who claimed to be god incarnate and brutally ruled the world for a thousand years--has been vanquished. But Kelsier, the hero who masterminded that triumph, is dead too, and now the awesome task of building a new world has been left to his young protégé, Vin, the former street urchin who is now the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and to the idealistic young nobleman she loves. As Kelsier's protégé and slayer of the Lord Ruler she is now venerated by a budding new religion, a distinction that makes her intensely uncomfortable. Even more worrying, the mists have begun behaving strangely since the Lord Ruler died, and seem to harbor a strange vaporous entity that haunts her. Stopping assassins may keep Vin's Mistborn skills sharp, but it's the least of her problems. Luthadel, the largest city of the former empire, doesn't run itself, and Vin and the other members of Kelsier's crew, who lead the revolution, must learn a whole new set of practical and political skills to help. It certainly won't get easier with three armies – one of them composed of ferocious giants – now vying to conquer the city, and no sign of the Lord Ruler's hidden cache of atium, the rarest and most powerful allomantic metal. As the siege of Luthadel tightens, an ancient legend seems to offer a glimmer of hope. But even if it really exists, no one knows where to find the Well of Ascension or what manner of power it bestows. worst installation of mistborn by far. did not enjoy :/ the politics were tedious and sieges are boring stuff.

Incredible. Such a good change of pace to read about rebuilding a society after war, loved the character development, the lore is crazy. The ending!! what’s going on!!!

Idk how I completely feel about the end of this one. Less devastating than Final Empire but much more interesting.
