I really liked how this story was told in first person narrative by the character from the past, and by third person narrative about the current day character. The two stories came together nicely.

Interesting premise & I enjoyed the first half, but the story sort of fell apart & I found d myself less interested in the second half of the story. The Witchcraft seemed forced & almost like it didn’t belong. I think actually exploring the characters without that element would’ve made for a more engaging tale.

For now, just saying it's a glamorous and beautiful book. This book gives me a cottage core feeling, but also love how magic works here. I enjoy this title a lot and search for some common books. Recommend for its mysticism and nature.

This is my third Paula Brackston book, and it was my least favorite of the three. It was enjoyable, but not as engaging as The Witch's Daughter or The Winter Witch. Looking forward to reading The Silver Witch next.

Loved loved loved this book. Every book I read from Paula Brackston I fall so deeply in love. This book is about the strength you find in your differences, the unexplained that was once known as magic, and the unyielding love that travels through each new generation. I highly recommend this book to nearly everyone I can think of. It has so much history and such beautiful scenery. I seriously can't praise this book enough.

This was my first time reading Paula Brackston and I fell in love with her Morgana. This book delivers a beautiful heroine that fights to prove she is more than what people think of her. She is faced with such adversity and she continues to try and prove herself to everyone around her. She refuses to bend to others will because of her voicelessness. She's the kind of woman I would hope to be when faced with such odds. The story is a little slow moving in plot development, however it doesn't really take away from the flow of reading. I really enjoyed reading the Winter Witch and look forward to reading more books by Paula Brackston in the future.

Southern Today Gone Tomorrow

Written by Paula Brackston, this novel follows Morgana as she adjusts to her new life with her new husband Cai, struggling with her inability to talk and her powers.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

Set in 1800s Wales, I was reminded of The Witch of Blackbird Pond. The difference between the two? One has an actual with, while the other just has an outsider.

The writing was beautiful, and I appreciate that the fantasy elements were spars until the end. I would have even enjoyed this book a little more than I did without them.

The reader for this novel was also good, though she too cannot sound like a man with a baritone, aka Cai.

If you enjoy historical fiction, fantasy, mystery, and just a very well written book, this is for you. I adored this novel. I appreciate that it is a standalone book and I am looking forward to hunting down the rest of her books to see if they are as enjoyable as this.

This book does not get 4 stars from me because it is complex and intriget, it gets 4 stars because this author knows how to tell a story, and how to convey what needs to be conveyed. It doesn’t get 5 stars for the sole reason that I do not think her being an actual witch, outside of the obvious addition of real magic, really added a whole lot to the story. Most who read this will likely disagree, but that is alright. But I did love that the magic she had was not all encompassing. She had some control over it, but not much.

I also appreciate that this is set in, for American literature, a non-traditional location. Wales. I now what to find more books based here, see how they all compare.

I will be recommending this novel to many of my friends and any reader who enjoys historical(ish) fiction or fantasy.
