The Wright Brother

The Wright Brother

K.A. Linde2017
A new contemporary romance stand alone from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde... I'd dated his brother. He didn’t remember and I wish I could forget. I may have sworn off the Wright family a long time ago. But when I returned home, Jensen Wright crashed into my life with the confidence of a billionaire CEO and the sex appeal of a god. Even I couldn’t resist our charged chemistry, or the way he fit into my life like a missing puzzle piece. Too bad he’d forgotten the one thing that could destroy us. Because Jensen Wright doesn’t share. Not with anyone. And if his brother finds out, this could all go down in flames. When it all was said and done, was he the Wright brother?

K.A. Linde did it again! I loved Sutton and David. My only complaint is that this book was too short! It was great to read about the rest of the Wright family and how they were doing. Patiently waiting for The Wright One to see how Sutton's story continues. My full review will be posted on thebookdutchesses.com tomorrow!

After the ending of The Wright Love, I couldn't get my hands on this book fast enough. The bomb that dropped left me wondering how all of the secrets would be put into play. David had a big secret, but I never expected that he did it to hurt the Wright family. This book is definitely more about David and what he went through with his family and coming to terms with that. I have to say his story was heartbreaking as well. There was still a lot of "will they - won't they", but I understand. Sutton lost a lot and really needd to be sure of moving on. It needed to be on her terms and when she was ready. That may seem selfish at times, but after what she went through she got a pass from me. Once again, the whole Wright family was a part of this book and I have to stick by me saying I wouldn't mind having these people as a family. They may be overprotective and have their own issues, but it's a family full of love. I'm very sad that this is the last book with this family. K.A. Linde made me love them all.

I tend to be an eager beaver when it comes to trying out a new author, which, my mounting TBR list reflects.  K. A Linde was never on my radar until I read the synopsis for her latest release, ‘The Wright Brother”.   While I had some misgivings, I must admit I was somewhat intrigued by the premise and so I decided to give this book a chance.  I am glad I did.  If you are a fan of sexy, sweet, dramatic and poignant stories, then you will love Jensen and Emery’s story.   Emery had left Lubbock, West Texas after graduating from high school. She relocated to Austin, Texas and is currently pursuing her PhD in history.  When she discovered that, her boyfriend of three years had cheated on her, she made the decision to resign from the PhD program and return home. She knew returning home would mean encountering her ex, an encounter she was not looking forward to,  as she had sworn off men, especially those from the Wright family. However, what she never counted on was falling in love, especially with a Wright brother.  Her portrayal piqued my interest in learning more about her. There were so many aspects to her and it was interesting getting to know each one of them.   Jensen, Wright, billionaire and CEO of Wright Construction has sworn off committed relationships after being betrayed by his ex-wife. He has since become a love them and leave them kind of guy, so when he saw Emery at his sister’s wedding his only thought was a one-time hookup.  Women fell at his feet every chance they get so you can imagine how surprised he was when Emery rejected his advances. However, being the type of person who goes after what he wants he would not let one rejection deter him. However, discovering that she used to date his brother, Landon, made things a bit complicated, as he could not stop thinking about her.   “Speaking of Miranda, I heard she freaked out last night.” Landon blew out a grateful breath at the change of subject. “Yeah, bro, my ex-girlfriend Emery Robinson was there. You remember her?” My body stilled, and everything narrowed down to that name. “Emery Robinson,” I whispered. “Yeah. You know, my high school girlfriend. I didn’t even recognize her, and Miranda was pissed that she hadn’t been informed she’d be there.” “You didn’t recognize her?” I whispered as horror and realization began to dawn on me. “Nope. How fucked up is that?” I ran a hand back through my short hair and closed my eyes. “Fuck.” “What?” Landon asked in confusion. I shook my head. This could not be happening. Em— my mysterious Em, my fucking Cinderella— was Emery Robinson. Of course, she would recognize me. But I hadn’t seen her in… God, ten years. No wonder she had ran away from me. I’d just tried to pick up my brother’s ex-girlfriend.   Jensen is a man with many secrets. Forced to abandon his dreams to take care of his siblings and to assume control of the family business when his parents died changed him. In addition, he has issues where trust was concerned, which was understandable given what is ex-wife put him through. He approaches everything in his life like a business and does not get emotionally involved except when it came to his siblings. The story reminded me that love happens when we least expect it and at times with the most unlikely person.  Emery and Jensen would discover the truth of this statement in due course.     Their attraction is mutual, but circumstances called for them to move cautiously.  Their interaction with each other at times was entertaining and heartbreaking which was due to miscommunication and mixed signals in most instances. Their romance was not all sweet and flowery.  A little steam, angst, and drama added to the mix helped to make things very interesting.    The secondary characters played their role in making the story dramatic and entertaining. Emery’s best friend Heidi was the perfect scene-stealer.  She helped her to keep things in perspective. She is the type of friend who has your back no matter the situation.  I cannot wait to read her which I get to understand is next in the series.   The drawback to this story was that based on the synopsis I was expecting a little more drama as it relates to Emery’s relationship with the two brothers. In this regard, I found the synopsis misleading, as Landon’s role in regards to his interaction with Emery was minimal.  Then there were the scenes involving Jensen, his ex-wife, and their big secret.  Personally, I thought the author went a bit overboard with this.  To be honest, this aspect of the story had a soap operatic feel to it.  In spite of this, I found the story to be well written and engaging.   Overall, I enjoyed this installment in the Wright series, and I cannot wait to see what next the author will deliver.    Note: This can be read as a stand-alone.

Having had the pleasure of reading The Wright Brother, I was glad for the opportunity to read the Wright Boss. The Wright Boss is a stand-alone contemporary adult romance and the second book in the Wright Brother series. The Wright Boss is Landon and Heidi’s story. I first met them in The Wright Brother and since then I eagerly awaited the release of their story. Landon Wright is a pro-golfer, whose career has hit a snag after suffering a severe back injury. His personal life is not worth much these days as his marriage is an epic failure. After several attempts to salvage his marriage, he realised the impossibility of trying to save something that was not worthy of being saved. As a result, he returned to his childhood home to recuperate and restore some order to his messed up life. Heidi Martin is an engineer with Wright Construction Ltd. She knew Landon from her time in high school when he dated her best friend. Since that time, they have been good friends, but lately, she has come to realise that her feelings for Landon went deeper than friendship. However, giving into her feelings would lead to her breaking three rules she has lived by when it came to relationships. 1. Do not date your co-worker, especially if he is your boss. 2. Do not get involved with your best friend's ex 3. Never get involved with a married man. Would she break the rules she has lived by or will she continue to deny her feelings? I enjoyed this instalment. Truth be told I thought it was better than the previous book. From the moment, I began reading I was held captive by beautiful writing. The pacing was fitting and the story never gave me a chance to feel bored. I enjoyed Heidi and Landon’s interaction with each other. Their attraction was undeniable and their chemistry explosive. Heidi tried to deny her feelings and to keep her distance from the man who held her heart, but this proved difficult. Her situation was made more difficult by the fact that they worked in such proximity to each other. In addition, Landon’s determination to have her in his life tested her resolve and placed the thing she held dear in danger. The situation regarding their relationship was a bit of a grey area. Technically, Landon was married, but he was actively seeking a divorce. I know there are readers who would have preferred if they got involved after the divorce was final and for some, the fact that he was seeking a divorce was good enough. I guess it all boils down to our own sense of morality, and what we believe is acceptable as against what we consider is unacceptable. Anyway, in spite of the grey area, I enjoyed their romance, which I thought was beautifully written. Heidi and Landon’s connection ran deep. Their love for each other went through many tests, but in the end, it triumphed, which is a testament to the phrase ‘Love conquers all’. Landon’s soon to be ex-wife is a piece of work. His family never liked her and for good reason. She is not only a gold digger, but she is also the most conniving, selfish and manipulative person I have had the displeasure to meet. No wonder Landon could not get from her fast enough. There were moments when I believe she was delusional in thinking that Landon would never leave her. The measures she took to try to stop Landon from leaving her was pathetic. I had no sympathy for her. I am still at a loss as to why Landon gave her so many chances, but I am glad he finally came to his senses and kicked her to the kerb. I admired Heidi for her fighting spirit. She is not the type to wallow in self-pity. She is independent, career-oriented and opinionated. She has been through a lot, but she hid her pain well. She had issues with her dad and as a result, she refused to forgive him. I liked that in the end, she made the decision to let go of the bitterness and restore her relationship with her dad. I had some minor issues, and thankfully, these did not hinder my enjoyment of the story. When misfortune befell Heidi because of her relationship with Landon I did not, appreciate how quick she was to blame Landon, yet she accepted her friend’s action without putting up a fight. She also failed to acknowledge her part in the situation. Verdict This was an enjoyable read and one that I would recommend to fans of friends to lovers trope. I am counting down the days for the release of the next book in the

After reading about the Wright brothers, I eagerly awaited Morgan’s story. She impressed me from the moment I met her. My curiosity peaked and I wanted to discover if she could manage her personal life in the same vein as her professional life. She did not disappoint. Morgan Wright proved to be a force to reckon with not only in the boardroom but also in her personal life. I knew she was strong, determined and independent, and these traits were on display throughout this installment. She faced her challenges head on and proved she had what it takes to survive in a man’s world. Morgan represented the challenges women faced in the working world. She had to work harder than her male counterparts to prove her worthiness of her current position. It did not help that persons were trying to prove she incapable of being CEO of a major corporation. She handled her love life in the same manner has her professional life. Patrick Young is the man she has set her sights on. She has been crushing him for twelve years and her feelings had not dwindled. It grew stronger with each passing year. She now believes this would be the perfect time to make her feelings known. Patrick Young is an endearing and engaging character. He is a commitment phobic, and it does not help he attracts crazy women. He is clueless about Morgan’s feelings for him and he sees her as nothing more than a sister. Besides, she is his best friend’s sister and as such she is off-limits. However, lately he finds himself having thoughts about her, which were in no way sisterly. Unlike most men who felt intimidated in Morgan’s presence, Patrick admired her work ethics and he encouraged her desire to be the best she could be. I admired his willingness to fight for their love. When it appeared, Morgan wanted to throw in the towel as it relates to their relationship; he fought to sustain their love. I loved his willingness to brave the wrath of her brothers to be with her. This was a testament to the depth of his love for Morgan. Individually they were great, but as a couple, I thought they were awesome. I enjoyed the time spent with the secondary characters. The banter, humour, bonds of friendship and family made the story that more entertaining. These characters were presented in such a manner if I had not already read their stories I would be compelled to get their books to learn more about them. The story entertained me and I never had a chance to be bored. As it was told from the POVs of both characters, I had the opportunity to watch events unfold through their eyes, which made everything so much more interesting. Conclusion/Recommendation Overall, The Wright Secret was an amazing friend to lovers’ romance and one I would recommend to fans of contemporary romance.

I have been waiting for Sutton’s story ever since I met her in The Wright Brother; book one of The Wright series. She piqued my curiosity from the start and it was further enhanced when tragedy struck taking her husband from her. My heart wept for her and throughout the series I hoped she recovers from the loss and discover the beauty of love the second time around. When I discovered that her story would be published soon, I eagerly waited for that moment when I would have this beautiful story in my possession, and it was worth the wait. It has been a year since tragedy struck and changed Sutton’s life. She is a widow and a single mom mourning the loss of her husband. She is aware she needs to start living again, but she is not sure how to proceed. She made a few attempts, but fear had a crippling effect on her decisions. However, with the help of David Sloane, CFO of Wright Construction, she made progress. David Sloane moved to West Texas to get a fresh start. I knew he had secrets, and I was curious to discover what he was hiding. Despite this, I found him to a likeable character. He made himself available for Sutton to lean on during her time of mourning. During this time, they developed a bond. His patience with her was a testament to his love for her, but his secrets had the power to damage their friendship and budding relationship. Sutton and David had awesome chemistry. Sutton is a remarkable person. I admired her strength. Moving on from the loss of a loved one is never easy, but she tried to not only for the sake of her son but also for herself. I knew the story would end in a cliff-hanger and I honestly thought I was prepared, but I was wrong. I never for a moment expected such a massive bombshell. Now I am left wondering what next will happen and I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel. Thank goodness I do not have long to wait. Conclusion/Recommendation The Wright Love is a heart-warming story of loss, healing and second chances. If you are looking for a story filled with lovable characters and in the process tug on your emotions, then pick up this book. I can’t wait to discover what next is in store for David and Sutton

The Wright One is the much highly anticipated conclusion to Sutton and David’s story, which picks up from where The Wright Love ended. The series highlights how secrets have an uncanny way of being revealed at the most inappropriate time. For David Calloway, the revelation of his secret came at a time when his fragile relationship with Sutton had blossomed. It is said trust once lost cannot be regained. Can David convince Sutton that he meant her no harm when he failed to disclose his secret? Will he be able to regain her trust? This installment explores David’s past, providing insight into what shaped him into the person he is today. We learn the reason he felt he had to hide his past and to be honest I could not fault him for doing so. However, what I blamed him for was his failure to disclose the truth to Sutton after their relationship developed beyond mere friendship. I liked that he tried to make amends, and he owned up to his mistakes. Coming to terms with his past was difficult, but he did and in the process healed the rift that materialised after the revelation of his secret. It also helped to heal his relationship with his family. I could relate to Sutton’s feeling of betrayal at David’s actions and for a while, she doubted her decision to start another relationship. Then to add fuel to the fire, there were one or two persons who tried to make her feel guilty about her decision. What got to me was her willingness to allow these persons’ negativity to jeopardise her chance at happiness. I found her indecisiveness in this matter frustrating. The Wright One is a well-written story that demonstrates the power of love. Love has the power to heal as David and Sutton would discover. I enjoyed following them on their journey of healing, forgiveness and acceptance. Conclusion/Recommendation If you are looking for a series that has depth and will tug at your emotions and features relatable characters the Wright Duet is perfect for you

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. One Wright Stand sets the stage for the novel Wright With Benefits. Annie Donahue and Jordan Wright. The story gave an interesting peak into Annie and Jordan’s first meeting and their eventual hook up. Annie’s goal in life is to become a medical doctor so she can save lives. As a medical student she studied hard, but she never shies away from partying and having fun. It was at one of these partying moments that she first laid eyes on Jordan Wright. Now both had no intention of being involved in a relationship, Annie because of her studies and Jordan given his many failed relationships. However, they could not deny their attraction to each other. What better way to deal with their attraction without the commitments a relationship entails, but to have one night of passion. One night with no strings, with the understanding they will go their separate ways after. Should be easy, especially with Jordan returning to Canada the following day. Fate, however, had other plans I enjoyed this prequel. It may have been short, but it sure packed a punch. The story which feature intriguing characters entertained me from start to finish, whetting my appetite for the sequel. Readers familiar with the series would be happy to know that the events of this prequel occurred before Sutton’s story. I thought this to be a wonderful introduction to Annie and Jordan’s story. A must read for fans of the series and readers of contemporary romance. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
