The more I think about this book the more I don’t like it. The whole book moved far too slowly and you don’t really find out what happened until the last 100 pages. An element I found interesting is that you think Juno is living in their attached rental for the first say 50-100 pages and then you learn that she was actually homeless and lives in their crawl space and is actually stalking them. Maybe that was just me who thought that. At the beginning of the book you knew that the couple did something really bad at around the same time they had their son. You are made to believe they kidnapped their son, and it turns out she accidentally killed a whole other baby. Why they didn’t just go to the police, I don’t know. Then they have the whole thing with the brother which doesn’t even really matter and I wish she found a way to finish the book without turning the brother into a murderer. I forgot the husband died, which is wild to me. Overall, I don't really like the ending, because Winnie just moves out and she never really faces any charges. Not that I really want her too, but then the new couple finds the bodies and you have no idea how the crime actually ends. If the people figure it out or not. It just seems rushed.

This is the kind of book that has me afraid to describe it out of fear I’m going to spoil it so I’ll keep it real simple. Juno recently moved in with what she thought was the perfect family, the Crouch’s. But Juno starts to see the cracks immediately and knows she has an opportunity to make things right in an attempt make amends for her own dark history. But in doing so it will leave Juno more exposed than she ever intended on being with the Crouch family. The Wrong Family is 302 pages long and took me 3 days to read. Holy crap, this book!!!! I’m giving it a 4 out of 5! It’s truly a thriller of epic proportions and you won’t know what hit you. Thank you, Graydon House, for sending me this copy! Here’s to the adventure of finding a novel novel! Lacey

four stars i loved this book so much. winnie was almost as relatable as she was un-relatable. i love the way fisher makes us judge the mothering abilities of multiple women for very different reasons throughout the novel and still manages to build some form of understanding for the things they did. i wish sam had been a bigger character because there was a ton of potential there. i definitely hated nigel the entire time and i can’t fully figure out if that was the goal or if the goal was to like nigel. juno made me sad, but she was a prime example of what happens when assuming too much about a situation you’re not well versed on

It kept my attention but didn't really get interesting until the end.

1 ⭐️ Man am I glad this is finally over.. I always try to look for the positives in any book that I read but this was honestly the worst thriller I’ve ever read. It was boring the entire time, Juno’s POV was so strange? Why follow an old lady who is just talking about in how much pain she is, constantly peeing herself and getting high and having really strange daydreams? I hated reading from her POV. I was still holding hope with the wife’s POV and that the end would be somewhat redeeming but it wasn’t at all. It made no sense. I really disliked it and it took me an entire month to get through. I will not be reading anything else from this author since I haven’t heard great things about her other thriller “The Wives” either. It’s simply not for me.

I loved the concept of this book and I found it super interesting. I loved how the characters voices were totally different and enjoyed the two perspectives very much. And that ending OMG. I initially gave this 3 stars but I’m going to up it to 4, I was much better than other 3 star thrillers that I’ve reader so far this year.

2.5. I was honestly bored out of my poor little mind. Thought the ending would redeem the first 200 pages and it did!.... barely

I don't really have much to say, the plot twists were predictable, I saw the ending coming a mile away and it was overall a yawn fest until the last few chapters where it got absolutely ridiculous. Yeah no.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. In the Wrong Family Tarryn Fisher provided the reader with an interesting, tension filled and twisted psychological thriller. The story introduced the reader to Juno, a retired therapist, and Winnie Crouch. Juno is looking to live the rest of her life in peace, so when the opportunity to live with the Crouch’s presented itself, she did not think twice. On the surface the Crouch’s appear to be the perfect family, but then she learns they had more imperfections than the moon had craters. At first, she had no intention in interfering in their domestic squabbles, but then she overheard a conversation, which led to her making assumptions which were not always correct. These assumptions ultimately led to a dangerous outcome. The characters featured in this story were unreliable, unlikeable, and clueless. Told from the POVs of Juno and Winnie, the reader had a front-row seat into the warped minds of these individuals. Juno has a history of getting deeply involved in her clients, which went beyond a professional relationship. Her need to interfere in situations she perceived as being threatening came to light at the revelation of the Crouch’s secret. If only she had not been such a busybody. Winnie rubbed me the wrong way. Not only was she controlling, she proved to be a selfish and insensitive individual. The revelation of her secret did not put her in a good light either. Nick struck me as someone who lacked a backbone. The one person I felt sorry for in all of this craziness was Winnie, and Nick’s son, Samuel. This was my second experience with the author’s work, having read her previous book The Wives, which I enjoyed. I had high expectations for her latest release. Even though I enjoyed the Wrong Family, it fell short when compared to The Wives. I struggled with the story in the initial stages. It moved at a slow pace, which was one reason I failed to connect with the story until around the fifty percent mark. It was at this point the story took a turn which made me eager to know the events would unfold. There were no dramatic revelations, but then Fisher ripped the rug from beneath me and the story took a tragic turn which I never saw coming. Conclusions/Recommendation Overall, despite this not being in the same category as The Wives, it was twisted enough to appeal to the author’s fans and readers who enjoy psychological thrillers. 2 stars This was horrible. I felt like the whole story was going nowhere and while the ending kind of saved me wasting my time, the characters were terrible.

4.57 on CAWPILE Nope. I wanted to enjoy this book but nope. I'm not sure why Fisher wants to use (view spoiler)[ mental health (hide spoiler)] constantly as a plot device, and it is not done well. This book requires the reader to have a huge suspension of belief which I just couldn't do. The writing style was enjoyable, and fast paced, but that was about as much as I can say. Trigger warnings (view spoiler)[ infant death, miscarriage, home invasion, stolen child, drug abuse (hide spoiler)]

Ending was good, messed up but good. Kinda don't feel bad for certain characters where I did before finding out. Would be 4 star if some parts hadn't been so drawn out. More comprehensive review to come once my notes get updated & organized, who knows, after another look see, the rating may just go up but probably not down. Maybe.

This book was so twisted and mysterious. It didn’t feel scary until you closer to the end and then it got creepy. At this point my curiosity was stronger than my fear. I enjoyed this more than The Wives. I don’t want to give too many details on the plot because it will ruin it. Except to to say it is a story about families and individuals struggling with grief and emotional illness.

I’m having a hard time reviewing this one. Tarryn’s writing style is so unique, which I always love. The story, however, dragged a bit for me in the beginning. I was also a but confused at certain parts. But in normal Tarryn style, she pulled it all together and the ending was great!
