There is that dream. The dream that someday, even you, you lowly busboy, you bellhop, you shoeshine boy, you can break from these bonds and soar high and capture that beautiful girl and a flashy car and a cute little suburban house with a picket fence. You can climb above the hoi polloi and take your place in the sun-filled anti-chamber, comfortable with the knowledge that you have a big fat wallet and a couple of reasons to care about the market. But dream on sucker. The washed likes to keep the unwashed in their boarding houses and apartments on the other side of town. If you attempt to climb you might have to poke some eyes out along the way. Success is a hollow word. Oh, and in the 20s, dear girl, why you should be home raising babies or you get what you deserve.
