These Broken Stars A Starbound Novel
Reviews

*3.5 This was fun! It wasn’t super revolutionary but I still had a great time! Excited to continue on.

I’m mad at myself for having kept this unread on my TBR for over ten years.
I loved this. I genuinely had the most intense book hangover when I finished.
I got super spooked out from the voices and seeing things scenes; I really was more creeped out then when I read It and other haunted stories. The spookiness came to a surprise for me, because I was just expecting a cute dystopian romance space read. I was reading it at 3 in the morning, so that also was involved making me more spooked.
But this book was such a good read and a great surprise. I wanted the best for these characters and will be picking up the rest of the series (even if it seems they aren’t the main characters?! I’m salty as heck).

This gave me more feels than i expected to receive. SO I WAS A MESS AT SOME POINT A BIG STRESSED CRYING MESS MIND YOU I MEAN TRAVER WASNT SUPPOSED TO BE *THAT* SOFT! RTC! Hopefully! Cuz i am an irresponsible reviewer! A piece of trash reader! Yay!

UGH. THIS BOOK. SO GOOD.

I really liked this book. I thought it was going to be a cheesy sci-fi romance but it was waaay more than that. It was interesting, mysterious, and (yes, it was) a bit creepy. Although the first half was uneventful and really slow (although I have to admit it was quite funny), I think the second half was really good and makes up for the other half. The second half is where it starts to get intriguing. Also, I love the character development that we get from Lilac. It was great to see her become stronger and it's beautiful how Tarver was somehow a part of the cause why she became like that. Even though I'm not crazy about this book, I still think this is a great read.

Gosh what a read!!! if you haven't read these broken stars yet, I highly recommend you do because oh my god, this book ... literally killed me with its awesomeness!

I liked this book. I initially picked it up because I've just finished illuminae and was hopeful this would be similar. It was, but wasn't. There was a lot more of a romance angle here, which I liked, but there was also a stronger sci-fi theme which I'm still not sure if I like. It was an enjoyable read though and I recommend it.

3.5 starts, it would have been four if not for some very poor decisions in the last few chapters re: Lilac. Of course it all works out in the end, but, I'm not happy. Also, because of the fact that the second book doesn't center on this pair. (RUDE!) It delivered on what it promised, I CAN say that much. A space adventure, sci-fi mystery that hints at romance, growth and the ever present danger of death on an unknown planet. Lilac was not my favorite character of all time, she was spoilt, naive and overly stubborn. Prone to making stupid decisions, however her growth during this book made those flaws ALMOST forgiveable. Tarver on the other hand was hard and entirely focused, but extremely weak where Lilac was concern. I much prefer him to Lilac as a main character. The duo worked so well, balancing each other out nicely. I hope we get to see more of them in the future. I want to know more about (view spoiler)[the creatures they found on that planet though, so I really hope we learn more as the series continues (hide spoiler)]

Dafür gibt es keine ausführliche Rezension. Das ist nur eine sehr zähe Lovestory im All...

Fantastic! Loved the survival part and the main mystery of the book, can't wait to read the sequel!

More like a 3.7. It was going so good, but went downhill a little past halfway into it. Haha, 2015 Emi is such a liar. Ignore everything she said above. She was fresh out of reading Harry Potter and so obviously her views of literature were scewed. Luckily, we have 2018 Emi here and she is happy to tell you that These Broken Stars is amazing and cheesy and everything she loves in a book. And that ending is weird AF but A+++. She just really loves this series, okay? update: 2020 Emi here just dropping by to say that this book is even better than I remembered it being. 10/10. would recommend.

Why I chose this book: I will be the first to admit it. I am a sucker for space operas. At the tender age of 8, I watched Star Wars for the first time and Han Solo had me at “I know”. When I was eleven, I wanted to be an astronaut. Sadly, a few rounds of roller coasters permanently crushed those dreams. Needless to say, I had stardust in my blood. The fortunate thing for me, and for young adult literature, is that there is some amazingly well written space opera and science fiction novels. I had seen a couple of book blogs I follow give this book a good review, so I knew I had to pick it up.

beautifully written. it's a pretty slow pace book in my opinion, at first i didn't really get what was going on, but maybe like about 100 hundred pages through i started to get into it. maybe it's because of me reading this book during midnight, so i kind of scares me, but i like it. very interesting, read nothing like that before.

I've been hearing so many great things about this book that I knew I had to at least give it a read. And I'm really glad I did. But...I'm a little disappointed too. This book was beautifully written and had a really interesting concept for a story. It just didn't grab me like I hoped it would. I think the pacing was what threw me. It moved a little too slow at times which made it hard to stay interested. But, despite the issues I had with this, I still thought it was a good book! Like I said, the concept is really interesting and I did really love the writing. Kaufman and Spooner created such a beautiful and fascinating world. I would have liked a little more world building, but I loved what was there. And the characters were so fun. At first, Lilac drove me a little crazy, but she eventually grew on me. By the end, I adored her and Tarver. They were such well developed characters. And I loved seeing their growth throughout the book. So, I liked this book. I didn't love it, but I did like it. I'm glad I read it and I can see why so many people love it. There's a lot to enjoy about this book. If you're debating whether to read it, I would say go for it! It's worth checking out if you like YA and Sci-Fi books.

This book was fantastic! I admit, I struggled with the first 10 chapters but once the plot thickened it was so captivating! This book had everything; romance, humour, suspense etc. I can't wait to start with the second!

This book was so cute and thrilling and wonderful and heartbreaking, all at the same time. It started off a bit slow, not gonna lie, and the vast majority of the story takes place during a hike, but it didn't feel stagnant. The romance and the sci-fi aspects blended together very well and the last hundred pages, oh god... My heart could barely take it at 2am when I was reading. Can't wait to read the companion novel, which should is out very soon! This world feels like it's regressed back to the 40s but at the same time it's miles ahead of our current society. It's very interesting.

So good! looking forward to the next one!

This was absolutely not what I expected at all, but that was the best thing it could have ever been. The way this book has always been pitched to me seems like it was very romance heavy and I wasn't into that. However, this book isn't that at all. The romance doesn't really kick in till the last 100 pages and even though it's pretty much at the forefront then there's still so much more going on. Most of the book is just a survival story and I had a grand old time with it. Some stuff, that I won't explain because spoilers, are happening and it's so interesting. At the end of the book I still had a lot of questions left over that thing, and as the sequels are companions I don't really know how many answers we're going to get in them. That doesn't mean I'm not dying to read them though. I absolutely flew through this book and read it in one sitting. I haven't done that in so long and it felt so good. This review is a bit messy but that's just because I don't really know how to talk about this book without really spoiling anything ... But yeah, this was so much better and more than I expected and I highly recommend it but it isn't a new favourite.

Either a 4.5 or 5, either way I loved this a lot! I really enjoyed the survival aspect of it and the two main characters were so enjoyable to read from.

This is certainly not a perfect book, but I had so much fun reading this that I really don't care. I really loved the concept and plot of this book even if the characters felt very similar to the second book in the Illuminae Files. The character interactions are similar and have kind of similar backgrounds... Ish. However, I did not care I still had fun reading it.

One thing I don't get is why instant love still exists in YA. We all hate it, we all never cease complaining about it. Then why do authors keep trying to shove it down our throats and hope we won't notice? Ain't gonna happen, folks, so cut it out. Instalove aside, this book is quite something. The sci fi elements were fascinating to me. There was that creepy factor throughout the book, which kept me on my toes, so kudos for that. Actually, this world alltogether captivated me, so bravo. Then, the characters. They were so wonderfully built and developed, I couldn't help but love them. They annoyed me, they made me want to hug them, they made me want to slap myself acros the face in frustration; they made me feel things. Couldn't ask for more. But my favourite thing, by far, was the writing style. Those fragments of dialogue between chapters were brilliant. They were funny, clever, and at times spoilery, which gave the book a unique feel. Overall a pretty good read.

Definitely not what I was expecting! I thought it was absolutely thrilling. It didn't go in the direction I expected it so cheers!

Hello Babes! Titanic is space, that is what I was thinking while reading. A ship, two people of different classes, a crash, similar to “Titanic “ but with a twist. At the start it was a slow build up of the story line. The story centers around the two main characters Lilac and Tarver, two people of different classes trying to survive while trying not to continue to insult or annoy each other. I enjoyed the element of mystery surrounding the planet and the relationship building between Lilac and Tarver. While Reading I felt like something was missing, expecting more but not getting it. It was a pleasant read, but not extraordinary. I will definitely pick up the continuing books in the series to see what happens next. A&K THE SISTERHOOD OF INEBRIATED READERS PODCAST 💖💖
