Annnndddddd... Kennedy Fox did it again!! Another FANTASTIC book from this unstoppable writing duo! I'm officially obsessed. OBSESSED!! I can't get enough of their books. They continue to slay me every. single. time.

This is Dangerous revolves around Kayla and Logan. We meet them in the earlier books, but get to know them both on a whole new level in this book. Kayla is such a sweetheart. She's a complete do-gooder who spends her time volunteering and taking in stray dogs that aren't being taken care of. She is completely in love with Logan, who won't give a relationship with her a chance.

Logan is a hot, sweet, and adorable police officer with a history and baggage pile a mile long. He refuses to get into another relationship, especially at this time in his life. He's keeping secrets from almost everyone (except for his bestie, Drew, who knows all about his skeletons in the closet.) and fears getting into a relationship anyone... even Kayla, who's he's been infatuated with since he first laid eyes on her.

I love these two, you guys!! I really thought that Drewtney was going to forever be my favorite couple... but in walked Layla, and now I'm stuck picking a favorite! These two are completely adorable and I spend the ENTIRE book routing for them to give a relationship a chance.

Oh... and did I forget to mention the donuts? Yup, there are lots and LOTS of donuts in this book. And trust me... after this story, you'll NEVER look at donuts the same way again. ;)

And in normal KF fashion, this book ends with a huge WTF moment. (It wouldn't be a real KF book if it didn't, amirite?!) I was always a hater of cliffhangers, but I have to admit, I completely LOVE how this duo ends their books! It definitely makes you crave the next book HARD, and it's great that the books are released so closely together, so the wait to find out what happens isn't too torturous.

Another fantastic book by one of my favorite writing duos EVER! I can't recommend these books enough. Seriously. If you're a romance fan, be sure to check out this series. You'll fall in love with these characters and their stories just as hard as I did, I promise you.

The first book in Logan and Kayla’s series wasn’t quite my favorite of the Checkmate Duet series, but I enjoyed their story nonetheless. It’s a fast, easy read with some over-the-top drama, and an AWFUL cliffhanger. I have to say that this cliffhanger was the WORST out of all three series – KF killed me with it, and I applaud them for it. So to say I’m excited for the next (and final!) book in the series would be an understatement.

Checkmate: This is Dangerous is a blend of friends-to-lovers and second-chance-romance, two of my favorite tropes. Kayla has had a crush on Logan since she first met him, but the mysterious man with a messy past has kept her firmly in the friend-zone… never mind the one or two kisses they shared. Logan’s life has no room for a woman, and despite how much he wants and cares for Kayla, he won’t make her settle for a guy who doesn’t deserve the wonder that she is.

I love love love dogs, so Kayla being an animal rescuer was perfect for me. Her character is adorable and sweet, if a little too sweet at times. She’s just so GOOD that it was sometimes unbelievable. Logan’s character grew frustrating after a while too, because of how slowly he revealed things to Kayla and him not making the effort to be with her sooner, damn the consequences. I do love a good man in uniform though, and Logan and Kayla together were on fire.

If you love the Checkmate Duet series, you will no doubt love Kayla and Logan. It’s just as crazy dramatic and intense as the previous reads. Just be prepared for that doozy of a cliffhanger, because it will have you DYING for the next book!

Well, Kennedy Fox definitely has the power to get me out of the worst slumps.

 I. NEED. THE. NEXT. BOOK. NOW.
WHAT. THE. HELL 

THE ENDING. I can not even begin to comprehend….just WHY???

Actually, that’s the problem. I understand the ending PERFECTLY, and HOLY MOLY I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!

Now that I’m calm, let’s talk about the book….

This Is Dangerous hooked me on the first page and I didn’t look back up until I finished the book. I love books like that. Where they totally consume you and make you forget your surroundings.

The characters in this book feel so real! Logan and Kyla are written too perfection. Kyla, though mature for her age has the same immature moments as the rest of us. Logan is just so sweet, speaking in a way that will have you swooning all over the place. As the characters develop in the story the story itself grows into something so hard to capture in words. I thought that the insta-lust that happen right away was going to ruin this book for me. But at the end, I realized that this story might have involved love but it’s not the love you expect. Even tho Logan was bothering me when he was introduced in book 3 & 4 in the series, I absolutely love him now!!

 “I wish you could see what I see.” She places the palm of her hand against my chest, my heart beating rapidly. “You have a kind heart. you’re a protector. You’re always here when I need you. Whether or not you see it, you’re a good soul, Logan Knight.” 

Overall, this book is nothing short of perfect (And I definitely prefer this book than book 3 & 4). It’s complex, has outstanding characters, and diverse. Kennedy Fox is such an incredible writer and even though I’ve only read two of her books, I’m so glad I have discovered her books. 

 Falling in love with Kayla Sinclair would be reckless. Allowing her to fall for me would be dangerous.
