Worst part of this book is that I’m torn between relearning Spanish to read pre-McDowell translations or French to be the premier Cixous translator. Inspiring, obviously. Beautiful, obviously. I picked this book up really only because I wanted to read her fiction book but everyone always praised this one so I felt like I should read it first. Briggs really reminds me of Maggie Nelson (quoted in this lol) in her way of writing theory in the mundane and casually referencing famous smarties in a really accessible way. I appreciate that a lot! Bonus points for talking about Mann and Ferrante which is just super duper cool.
