When A Hidden Fire ended Gio had left Beatrice to head off to California on her own thinking she had a lot of growing up to do, before she could decide to be with him. This one picks up showing the aftermath of his (*cough stupid cough*) decisions, and how it has affected Beatrice. Every year she goes to their home in Chile and waits for him, writing in a journal that she leaves for Gio to read after she has gone. Every year is the same, and for 5 long years she keeps going back after Gio leaves her tickets to meet him there, and yet he never shows...

We then fast forward to see how much her life has changed after she decided to stop going. She has a super hot ex Navy Diver boyfriend who absolutely adores her, new friends, and a new job at a library. All in all, life seems to be going pretty well for her..and then Gio shows up to win her back! 


  
    “I’m back, Beatrice. I’m back for you, and I’m not going anywhere. You’re not a girl anymore, so run home for now but know that I’ll see you again tomorrow. And I’m not leaving you again.” 
  


I thought this one was so MUCH better than the previous installment. As I stated in the previous review, I almost felt like the first one was a prequel leading into the real romance of the story in This Same Earth. I never understood their love in the first book, but in this one, I totally did. I connected with the characters so much more! Beatrice was more likable, Gio didn't seem like a douche bag anymore, and Carwyn was still awesome Carwyn, and we get introduced to Gio's, "nephew" Ben. 

One of the things that I loved most in This Same Earth, was how Beatrice didn't just drop everything and forgive Gio for leaving her! It was great seeing Gio have to really work for her forgiveness. I mean I love Gio, but it was a really crappy thing that he did to her for all those years ,and to just be accepted back into open arms was something that I was really afraid was going to happen, so thank god it didn't!

Can't wait to continue on to the next installment.

I can't stop reading this series....ugh.... does the vampire came back for her, does she find her father, do they kill Lorenzo....what is wrong with me. lol.
