So. This book brings together the characters from Life As We Knew It and The Dead and the Gone and they all pair off and it really nice.

I didn't really feel it. 
I WANTED to want Miranda and Alex to love each other. I WANTED to ship them. I'm not going to tell you how much I WANTED to ship them. But I never felt any real connection between them, except for, like, the last three pages and that was for a different reason. 

Speaking of that different reason, lets talk about the end. On principle, I hated the end of Life as We Knew It (because rather than succeeding on their own, they were 'saved' by the city). On principle AND in reality I hated the end of the Dead and the Gone (because first they got those passes from someone else 'saved' vs. 'success' and then that didn't work out so they were 'saved' by someone else). I both hated and loved the ending of this one. 
(view spoiler)[I hated that Julie died. I loved Julie, she was my favorite character from the Dead and the Gone. I kinda get why Miranda did that and I understand that Julie would have died anyway and been in more pain, but it's still hard to grasp. And I loved, LOVED the emotion in the last few pages. While Miranda was dealing with what she did and the consequences that it would have between her and Alex. I closed the book saying "Stop it with the feels, Susan Beth Pfeffer. (hide spoiler)]

So, overall the middle of the book didn't impress to much but the ending left the best impression. Still not as good as the first one, though.

I initially gave this book four stars, but after rereading it I am lowering it to a three-star (maybe even a 2,5 but I'm keeping it at three for now). I just don't love this book as much as I thought I did the first time. I liked how the characters from the previous two books came together, but I just don't love the way this story went at all. I'm feeling very generous by giving this book 2 stars. After finishing the 2nd book in the series I was so looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, it's just dreadful, poorly written, plods and the plot points don't make sense. It feels like it was written by an old lady who grew out of touch with her characters and just decided to dash off a final book to collect a cheque or something. It's a mess. I should have let the good memories just end at book 2. Don't pick this one up.

I read the first of these novels a couple years ago, and my eyes stayed glued to the pages in the first one. It was a new kind of dystopian, not really action, just a family trying to get through. The first half of this was like that, but it quickly deteriorated into a romance novel. Everything was about Alex. 

Now, don’t get me wrong–it was still really good. It just didn’t live up to the first novel. I liked the bit about looting houses, though, even though it got extremely gory at times. I guess that’s dystopian, though.

Une année s'est écoulée depuis qu'un astéroïde a percuté la lune de plein fouet et l'a décroché de son orbite. Dans ce dernier tome, qui vient clore la trilogie, nous rejoignons une fois de plus Miranda, héroïne du premier, qui sera trés vite accompagnée par nulle autre que Alex, dont nous avons suivi les aventures dans le second tome. 

Une fois de plus nous changeons de narrateur pour re-trouver le journal intime de Miranda, si elle m'avait manqué dans le second tome je m'étais finalement habituée à suivre les pensés d'Alex et ce boulversement dans la narration m'a un peu perturbé, cependant il reste trés intéressant. Même si nous ne suivons pas les pensés de Alex il n'est pas bien compliqué de les deviner, aprés tout nous l'avons accompagné pendant un tome entier et chacune des décisions qu'il va prendre dans ce tome nous pouvons de manière générale les comprendre mieux que Miranda elle-même, qui n'a pas assisté comme nous au cauchemard qu'il a vécu à New York. 

J'ai une fois de plus adoré ce tome, cependant je dois avouer que je me suis détachée progressivement des personnages. On retrouve pourtant tous ceux que l'ont a pu suivre depuis le début de la série et le caractère familiale est encore plus renforcé puisque l'on parle encore plus ici de partage et de sacrifice de sois pour les autres. Mais de la même manière, ce "partage" me semble un peu mal placé, aprés un an de galère pour se nourrir et se protéger j'ai trouvé ça un peu gros que Miranda et sa bande accepte aussi facilement que toute une tripoté d'inconnu s'installe chez eux en profitant allègrement de leurs maigres réserves. Certes le message est clair: il faut aider son prochain. Seulement pendant deux tomes nos héros n'ont fait que se conduir en "égoïstes" envers les autres, ce que l'on peut comprendre vu la situation, et là tout d'un coup ils accueillent près de dix personnes, dont la pluspart leur sont complètement inconnus, et cela ne pose aucun problème, ou au contraire si mais de manière bien trop légère. N'ont-ils rien appris pendant ces douze mois de galère? On fini tout de même à se faire à l'idée que ça ne dérange personne et on en vient même à s'attacher à ces nouveaux personnages. 

Malgré le changement de narrateur, le fil de l'histoire poursui son cours de manière fluide, comme dans les deux tomes précédents il est question de survie, recherche de vivres, et amélioration du comfort familiale. Finalement il y a peu de choses qui diffèrent entre ce tome et ses prédécesseurs, hormis l'histoire d'amour entre Miranda et Alex.

Aprés avoir fait le tour des critiques sur Goodreads, j'ai vu que beaucoup de personnes avaient jugé cette histoire d'amour peu crédible et bien trop rapide et naïve. C'est vrai que Miranda et Alex se promettent vite un amour éternel et sans faille mais si on se place dans le contexte je trouve ça assez logique. Il faut prendre en compte que Alex et Miranda font parti d'une communauté de survivants pour le moins minime, ils n'ont pas le luxe de se dire "je trouverais mieux ailleurs, j'ai la vie devant moi pour trouver le prince charmant!". Ils vivent au jour le jour et ne peuvent pas se permettre de se projeter dans le futur, alors biensure quand ils se croisent ils saisissent ce qui pourrait bien être pour eux leur première et dernière chance de vivre l'amour. Peut être que si ils s'étaient rencontrés dans d'autres circonstances jamais ils n'auraient eu de tels sentiments l'un pour l'autre, et biensure ils ne seraient pas autant promis au bout de quelques jours mais dans ce contexte précis ça porte tout son sens. C'est du moins mon avis.

De manière générale au fil que les prersonnages continuent d'évoluer, l'ambiance devient de plus en plus sombre et la conclusion finale, qui a déplu à tant, m'a semblé au contraire trés pertinente mais je n'en dirais pas plus pour ne pas risque de spoiler.

Donc une fois de plus un trés bon tome même si on peut resentir un léger essouflement "comme du beurre qu'on aurait étalé sur une tartine trop grande" mais je l'ai tout de même adoré et dévoré une fois de plus d'une seule traite. La série se fini en beauté, même si certains lui reprochent une fin trop pessimiste qui me semble pourtant plus crédible qu'un vulgaire Happy Ending.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a series so fast in my life. I’m absolutely in love with this series. In this book we are reunited with both of our faves: Miranda and Alex and they are amazing. This book is still in diary format and Miranda is the voice. I thought the voice was authentic and the character development was well done for the most part. I also thought the pacing and plot were intriguing enough to keep me entertained and engaged throughout the book.

However, I did think that there was an over abundance of insta love and I didn’t feel like Alex was well written in this book. He felt really one dimensional, which is sad because he’s my favorite character of the whole series. Also, I think the book didn’t start at exactly the same place it left off from the first book and the book was a bit slow for the first 50ish pages.

Verdict: If you read the first two book you need to read this one too!

This is probably one of my favorite series. The series starts off with an asteroid colliding with the moon and knocking the moon off rotation. This causes a series of natural disasters such as tsunamis and volcanoes that lead to disastrous long-term weather conditions. 
The first book follows Miranda's family and their fight for survival in a small town in PA.
The second book follows Alex and his two sThe Dead and the Gone coveristers and their fight for survival, as well as, the search for their parents who never returned home after that night. Their setting takes place in New York City.
In the third book Miranda and her family reunite with her father and step-mom and their little group of travelers. Among her father's group is Alex and his sister. As the story progresses Miranda and Alex begin having feelings for each other.

For this particular series and context of the story, the diary format works really well and is easier to read and follow along. I preferred reading Miranda's diary over Alex's form of a diary because she talked more in first person where as Alex talked in second person.

The overall scenario of the story is very believable. It is an event that could happen in real life, granted it a more unlikely scenario. But the effects of something like that happening are very believable. The survival, food rationing, no power to do basic needs, diseases, FEMA camps all could become a reality. I felt like this story, given that it is fiction, could give me incite as to would life could and would be like if such a disaster were to happen.

Overall, it was an amazing and fast paced series. I think it would be a great mini series on TV.

The first two books of this series were pretty good but i really struggled through this one . Nothing rly happened . At all. It was just Miranda complaining and going out to scavenge through houses , which could be been interesting , but was just her complaining about her world WHILE occasionally grabbing a can of food of finding tampons in a cabinet . I could blame my boredom on the fact that I had to read the Odyssey in the middle of reading this but . This was just boring I think . Not terrible , it was mildly entertaining I guess but , not as good at all as the other two
