Geology of the Hemlo Area, District of Thunder Bay

Two detailed mapping projects were initiated in the Heron Bay Area in 1977and in the Hemlo Area in 1978 by the Ontario Geological Survey, Ministry ofNatural Resources. These projects were part of a long-range program toprovide up-to-date mapping of the Wawa part of the Abitibi Subprovince andinformation on known gold occurrences. These two projects have serviced toprovide a more effective data base for determining the mineral potential ofthis region with specific emphasis on guides to exploration of the known goldoccurrences of the Hemlo Area.
