i just realized that this is part of a series after reading half of the book, but i loved it and i dont think there is much spoilers for the other books; i hope there isnt much. heartbreaking, yet also a heartwarming story. i cried so much while reading it. i recommend this book, and please do read the authors note and see the pictures at the end of the book. i was emotionally involved in their stories ): i love it

Another powerful tale of strength and survival during the Holocaust...this book tells the story of the three Meller sisters: Cibi, Magda and Livi. Their story is amazing and this book will be heartbreaking and endearing all at once. A must read....

Super raw and heartbreaking. I felt that there were some abrupt transitions, but definitely glad I read it and learned a lot.

Title: Three Sisters Author: Heather Morris Genre: Historical Fiction Format: hardback library book Series: The Tattooist of Auschwitz Star Rating: 3 stars tw: potential death, antisemitism, assault, verbal abuse, holocaust horrors, death by fire, mentions of hanging Apparently, I am on a kick where I read books based on true stories. I swear I didn’t purposely do it. It just happened. I get a little crazy when I get to a library. I just see books and grab as many as I can. But unfortunately, this book was okay. Not one of the strongest in this series. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it but it was just okay. I’ll start out with the strong points. I appreciate that this book is in the present tense. There aren’t a lot of books that do that and do it well, like this book. It makes you feel like you are right there with the main characters. I also enjoyed the tie-ins with the other characters from the first two books. Well, not tie-ins per se but they were mentioned in the book, which was fun to see. But don’t worry, you don’t have to read the first two to understand this one. They are only just briefly mentioned as the women knew them. There is a strong theme of family is everything in this book. Cibi is the definition of what it means to be a big sister and the sacrifices you make as the oldest. She certainly didn’t have to go with her sister to the camp but she did anyway because she loves her siblings. I related to Cibi as I am a big sister myself. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for my siblings. I will protect them at all costs. While there certainly is a lot of emotion in this book, oftentimes the writing felt stilted. The characters talked very stiltedly and without any true emotion. I don't know if that is due to the translation or what. I know that sometimes emotions get lost in the translation from the native language to English. I felt so awful for the sisters and what happened to them in the camp and outside of it but the way this was written at times kind of took me out of it. Overall, this was a lovely addition to the series. I feel like this series could end here and that would be fine with me. Despite some of the complaints I had about this book, I still enjoyed it, and left a lasting impression on me. I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for us.

This book is about three sisters and their experiences in the Nazi concentration camps and post liberation. It did not disappoint. Heather Morris does it again. I loved this as much as I loved tattooist of auschwitz and Cilka’s Journey. So much bravery and resilience from these sisters. If you liked Tattooist of Auschwitz and Cilka’s Journey this is a must read.
