I downloaded this book because the cover was so pretty. I am all for anything photography related. Just looking at the cover made me think it was going to be a very good story filled with drama and sadness. 

And it was a good book. It was very character driven. I wouldn't say that it didn't have a plot because it did...in a way. Dani comes back to her hometown after 10 years of being away. Her family is literally 50 shades of messed up. I mean the secrets that Dani finds out about her family, not to mention most of her family can't stand her. She doesn't know who her dad is. Her sister wants nothing to do with her. Her ex is going to marry said sister. It's all messed up. 

Dani is a very broken individual. Her mom died when she was young and she was raised by an aunt that didn't like her because she was different. That has to take a toll on anyway. She survived a natural disaster but it took a toll on her. My heart bled for her. She is so damaged and she feels like she can't let in anybody. All the people she has loved has hurt her. 

I'm glad that she reconnected (they went to school together) with Jonah. I was totally rooting for their relationship the entire time. He understood that she was broken and she needed to heal. He pushed her when he knew she needed to be pushed. Jonah was the right person for Dani. I'm glad Dani didn't take 20 years to figure that out. I always hated people that take  foooorreverrr to realize that their soulmate was literally right in front of them. 

I rated this book high because I loved the character growth. I loved that we got to watch Dani grow and find out who she was as a person. As for the plot, it was good. Finding out all these family secrets and regrowing relationships is always heartwarming to see. There really isn't a whole lot more I can say about this book. Just have to read it for yourself.

Dani was gone for ten years - didn't even return for her sister's funeral. But she's here now, although many question why she has returned and what her reason's were for not showing in the past. 

Her last sister is now married with her former boyfriend - and is extremely anxious that Dani is back to claim that former boyfriend.

Slowly, reasons behind her return become more clear and turns out that Dani's life away wasn't that great.
