I’m such a huge Victoria Scott fan, it was no question whether or not I would read Titans. The Collector Series was so entertaining (love me some Dante Walker!) and the Fire & Flood Series is so action-packed and intense! Simply stated, I adore V. Scott and her writing, and Titans was no exception.

Astrid is obsessed with Titans. Since the mechanical horses have been running the Derby in her local town, she’s spent a lot of time watching the races with her best friend. But it’s not all good… Astrid has a love/hate relationship with the Titans. Her father lost a lot of money betting on the races, and now her family is broke and in fear of losing their house. When Astrid is presented with the opportunity to race a mechanical horse herself, the prize being a HUGE financial amount that would help her family save their house, she decides it’s worth a shot… no matter how slim that chance of winning may be. Her best friend is more than happy to help, but her father is another story.

It’s confession time… I have a silly (totally paralyzing) fear of horses. So I wasn’t sure how this book was going to work for me. I was sure that the fact that they were mechanical horses would help with my fear… but, yeah, even machine horses are pretty scary to me. I loved how Astrid’s horse, though, had feelings too. That made it a little sweeter… and maybe a little bit less scary. 

I adored the strong friendships and family involvement in this book. Though the families weren’t perfect, they stuck together when times got tough. I loved the friendship between Astrid and her BFF, Magnolia, the most. What a strong, consistently supportive friendship these two had.

Another fantastic read from V. Scott!! I’m so excited to see what she comes out with next. If you guys haven’t read her books yet, you’re really missing out. Each series/book is so different from the others, so see which you feel are more “you” and go with those. I personally have enjoyed The Collector series the most, because… well, Dante. ♥ I can’t recommend her enough. A fast-paced, fun story with a wonderful message to go along with it. A must-read for 2016!
