I liked how we got to see new Bankai reveals from characters we haven’t seen them from before. I thought that Ichigo and Renji’s new forms were kind of a plot convenient power up, but I think it was done better than the reveal that Yhwach has been in Ichigo’s head the entire time. The idea that the Zangetsu we knew was really Yhwach and that Hollow Ichigo was really Zangetsu just feels clunky, a messy and convoluted plot twist meant to further Yhwach as a badass antagonist. I liked seeing Rukia and Byakuya fight Äs Nödt. The siblings have come so far and I loved their scenes in this volume. Rukia is easily one of my favourite characters in the entire series and seeing her take on one of the scariest Quincies was satisfying, especially seeing how far she has come with her own powers. I liked seeing Äs Nödt’s backstory and his relationship with fear itself, it really made all his monologues on fear make sense considering how fearful he was of dying and going to Hell. I loved seeing Rukia’s Bankai, it was probably one of the most beautiful transformations thus far and easily one of my favourite moments from this arc.
