I kissed him with all I had. He grunted in surprise, but then he was laughing, laughing, laughing against my mouth, and I swallowed it down, made it a part of me. It was frantic, it was 

 and I lifted him off the counter. He wrapped his legs around my waist, the driver’s license forgotten on the floor. I carried him up the stairs, and even though he bitched about it, I knew he didn’t mean it.

Joe said, “I’ve loved you from the moment I met you. I was lost in the dark, and you were the sun finally coming out again. I found my way back because of you. Now you have to do the same for me. Come back. 

His voice was hoarse when he said, “You’re the only place I’ve ever felt safe. You, Carter. You make me feel safe.” He tapped his fist against his chest. “Thump. Thump. Thump.”

Joe stood then. He went to Ox. He cupped his face before leaning in to kiss him sweetly.

“What was that for?” Ox asked, obviously pleased, as Joe pulled away.

Ox smiled at him. “I like just because.”

Joe fluttered his eyelashes. “Ooh, Gavin. You made my cold, dead heterosexual heart burst with super gay life and now I can’t— 

I sighed. “Your gayness is contagious.”

I was stunned when he raised our joint hands to his lips. He kissed the back of my hand. And then he was gone, as if he hadn’t just devastated me. As if he hadn’t just rocked me down to my foundation.

Gavin said, “He’s stupid. Always almost dies. I protect him. He needs me. He is strong. And brave. But doesn’t take care of himself. Like he should. I can do that. For him. So he can be strong and brave. For everyone else. Big bad wolf. But I can be good human.”

“You look like the guy parents tell their children to stay away from,” Joe said. “It’s the beard. It’s kind of gross.”

“I’m also gonna punch you in the mouth,” Joe said without looking at me.

“Get in line,” Kelly grumbled. “I want another turn.”

“Children, that’s enough,” Gordo said.

The rusty, broken sound crawled up from his throat, and he was huffing out his nose, but he was 

 and I understood then what Joe had seen in Ox, why Gordo and Mark were always going to find their way back to each other, why Kelly never stopped searching for Robbie. It was warm like a summer day. It was candy canes and pinecones, it was epic and awesome, it was dirt and leaves and rain, it was grass and lake water and sunshine.

“Here,” he said again. “Name doesn’t matter here. No crown. No roses. Just . . . you. Just Carter.”

I laughed wetly. “Again. Say it again.”

I could barely breathe. “My name. That’s the first time I’ve ever heard you say my name. Again. Please say it again.”

He said, “Carter, Carter, Carter,” and I remembered him as he once was, a shadow I couldn’t escape.

“And then I would say hey, and hi, and hello, Gavin, hello. My name is Carter. And I think you’re my. . . .” I couldn’t finish.

LEAVE ME ALONE. GO HOME OR I’LL HURT YOU.

“Yeah, buddy,” I muttered. “Should have said that before you started growling at anyone who got within ten feet of me.”

“Fuck you too,” I said in a choked whisper.

“Fuck you,” I muttered. “You goddamn dick.”

I finished the Green Creek series and now I am hollow. I don’t know what to do with myself. I flew through those books. I am genuinely considering re-reading them all over again right now. I am in a daze. I don’t want them to end.

I finished the Green Creek series and now I am hollow. I don’t know what to do with myself. I flew through those books. I am genuinely considering re-reading them all over again right now. I am in a daze. I don’t want them to end.

as an ending to the series and the overarching plot, I actually liked this, although some of the finer points (gavin leaving his father so easily, carter being allowed to stay in the cabin with gavin at all, the end battle being fairly short, why livingstone was winning the end leg of the battle at all when he was outnumbers 10+ to 1, etc) were confusing. 

as a romance novel, I wanted a bit more. the romance part was rushed, and we didn’t really get to see as much of it as I hoped. I like Gavin and Carter, but I think one of my problems is this book stripped Carter of much of his persona from the last books and also Gavin was entertaining but I would have liked maybe a little more self discovery, like the scene with the diva shirt. a lot of his development was necessarily off page, kind of a limitation of the first person narration, but I wanted to see more of him and more of them getting to know each other before the love. they really didn’t know each other as people at all before they declared undying love, and it fell flat. 

the scenes with the brothers, the focus of the book, were good; I liked that we got a bit more of joe because he’s a complicated character we see very little internal life from. he’s the only brother without a book of his own. I’ve often wished if they were gonna do the “joe carter kelly and gordo left for three years” thing that it was a separate book on its own narrated by joe and not a part of wolfsong.

TJ Klune should really reconsider traveling back in time to create more Bennet brothers, because there’s no way this series has only four books. It’s simply too short and I need more. I can’t believe it’s the end. I will miss this family so much. Almost two thousand pages of them is not enough. 

The book about Carter and his mysterious timber wolf, who turned out to be Gavin was the one I was waiting to read about the most. Im so happy I end up loving it and can probably say that this couple was my favorite one in the series. Okay, maybe after Gordo and Mark, but still almost in the first place. I love couples with great banter, so I knew I would love Gavin and Carter. 


  
    “You’re too loud,” he retorted. 
“I kill, I kill them all. But then you came out and said grr.” 
“I did not say grr, you asshole.” 
“Grr,” he repeated, like he was mocking me. “All loud and stupid with your stupid heart.” 
“Thump, thump, thump.” 
He nodded. “Should have killed you.”
  


Carter, my playful, funny, laid-back mayor of Green Creek, but definitely more mature in this book, which made me a little sad because I can't believe he was already over thirty. He was a teenager in the first book. It made me think "Damn, they grow up so fast." And his mate Gavin. Gavin Livingstone grumpy, stubborn, but at the same time freaking cute timber wolf who loved pink. I loved his character as much as his brother, Gordo. I'm so mad that Gavin didn't show up until the third book because I wanted more of him.


  
    "Gavin was weirdly shy when he shoved a package in my lap. He glowered at me when I thanked him. “Open it first,” he muttered. “Stupid Carter.”
  


Why was he so adorable and cute? The fact that this book has a lot of romance made literally hug my kindle. Mark and Gordo’s book focused, in my opinion at least, not enough on the romance. Which made me pretty sad as I love this couple, so I was relieved this book has a lot of more on this part. Carter and Gavin mostly made me laugh, smile, and even almost cry. The beginning where Carter was searching for Gavin was pretty depressing, but after he found him the book become definitely more fun and interesting.

I will miss them. *crying*

The characters/ Bennet pack. I love them. I love them. I love them. Where can I find this type of family? Everyone had their happy ending and I had tears in my eyes because of it. They deserve it so much. Gavin and his relationship with Elizabeth and Gordo was one of the best things about the book. Gordo and Gavin were almost the same person. Both grumpy, but they had a soft spot for their loved ones, and especially for the person they were with.


  
    "He said, “Fine. It’s fine. I’ll stay with Gordo.” 
“You’re just going to sit there and scowl at each other.” “We are not,” Gordo snapped. Both of them were scowling."
  


The end was literally perfect. I was wondering how the author would wrap up this series with everything that happened in the last book, but it couldn't have ended better. I mean, the ending might have been better if it didn't exist at all, and it wouldn't be the last book, but what can I do.

I will miss this series so much!

I skimmed through the last half of this book because I was getting so bored with the whole premise of the series. Again, there’s great moments between the characters, and the fight scenes were exciting. But, all of my complaints from the first three books still stand. On top of those complaints, I realized a quarter of the way through this book that all four books follow the same formula: character leaves/goes missing, angst, character gets found, angst, love, big fight scene, wrap-up. And yeah, the ouroboros theme, I get it, I do. Didn’t do it for me. I expected more from this series from how much others loved it, and it fell pretty flat for me.

No se como sentirme, estoy muy feliz de haber decidido leer esta saga tan maravillosa y estoy triste porque ya lo terminé y fue una experiencia tremenda, ojalá pudiera borrarme la memoria y volverla a leer toda otra vez. Me encantaron los 4 libros, conecté y me encariñe con todos los personajes (hasta los secundarios) y el vínculo que tienen entre ellos me parece precioso, fue algo muy lindo de leer, como una caricia al corazón 🤧 para mi la saga completa es un 100000/10

What a superb ending to such a highly emotional series about the humanity, flawed and otherwise, of werewolves and witches.

I loved how the story circled back to the beginning and we got to know more about Thomas. And now, I think Gavin is possibly my 2nd favourite behind Ox.

But like all the others, I just wish that I was more capable of putting my thoughts into words because for me this one got me in a very similar way to Wolfsong and all the callbacks, as well as Carter and Gavins story was overwhelming to me.
