I can't help but feel that this is easily the weakest Temeraire book yet, & glancing at the other reviews it seems I'm not alone in thinking so. While short, the entire book is one long plodding set-up for the remaining books; though if Novik intended to write it this way to better illustrate Laurence & Temeraire's numbing tedium of their exile in Australia, she succeeded.
