Leí Tonight the Streets Are Ours inmediatamente después que Lying Out Loud y me fue un poco chocante pasar de una relación de amistad tan bonita como la de Amy y Sonny, a una un poco desesperante entre Arden y Lindsey, tuve que dejarlo por unos días o lo terminaría odiando. Además, la premisa de Arden siguiendo a un blogger desde su ciudad hasta New York, lo que es básicamente stalking, me ponía demasiado nerviosa.

El personaje que Leila Sales trae con Arden me hizo pensar mucho en cuando yo era más chica y tenía una idea parecida a la de ella, el de estar por las personas que quieres sin importar qué, una especie de cheque en blanco, con los años uno se va dando cuenta que eso no es ni saludable ni correcto, Tonight the Streets Are Ours es sobre el momento en que uno llega a la realización de que no todo es blanco y negro, y por más que no quieres, terminarás lastimando a muchos personas a lo largo de tu vida.

Al terminar el libro algo que entendí, y me hizo entender completamente el inicio y del porqué se me hizo tan difícil congeniar con los personajes en los dos primeros capítulos, fue que todo depende de la versión de la historia. 

Tonight the Streets Are Ours me recordó mucho a esa frase de Red Queen "no importa si es verdad, lo que importa es lo que creen".

Cuando empecé el libro, la idea que tenía de varios personajes, por como Arden lo contaba, tenían personalidades que no me gustaban nada, pero una vez que avanzas en la historia y empieza el ahora, te vas dando cuenta que uno no puede guiarse por la primera impresión o solo una versión de la historia. Lo cuál es otro punto en que gira la todo el libro.

Mi parte preocupante sobre este libro era la de trackear al blogger hasta encontrarlo *escalofríos* Me gustaría decir qué no fue como parece, pero sí lo fue. ¿Has visto ese episodio en How I Met Your Mother, donde dicen que depende mucho si la persona te gusta para que lo que sea que haga sea creepy o lindo? Es por eso, que algunos libros que muchos encuentran creepy a otros nos gustan demasiado.

Leer este blog creado por Leila, me hizo pensar mucho en cómo yo bloggeo. Y, la verdad, es que kitten; no te he estado diciendo toda la verdad *gasp* Pero tampoco he estado mintiendo.

Volviendo a lo mismo de hace un rato "todo depende como cuentes la historia". Y, quizá sea mi lado que sueña con ser escritora algún sumado a mi cinismo, entiendo a Peter. Demasiado.

Me ha gustado bastante como Leila Sales desarrollo la historia, sobre todo por el epílogo, hay varias cosas que no me terminaron de convencer; lo obvio que eran algunas cosas, lo el hecho que Arden sea un tanto ingenua y no pueda separar la realidad de la fantasía en algún momento o el no darse cuenta de cosas bastante obvias, no quiero decir que fue injusta con Peter, pero es que soy de las personas que no se toma todo lo que está en Internet como 100% serio o cierto.

Se me hizo difícil reseñar Tonight the Streets Are Ours, me ha gustado y a la vez sin embargo hay cosas que me han dejado insatisfecha.

It took me a while to finish this and I did it because I don't like to leave books unread.

I don't understand how Sales went from This Song Will Save Your Life to this. What happened?

Tonight the Streets Are Ours is such a boring book. The protagonist, Arden feels like no one loves her as much as she loves them, not her parents or her friends or her boyfriend. Now, this is a very valid feeling and all but Arden is just so stupidly annoying. And it's not enough to write a whole book about it.

It was just too juvenile to me. I didn't enjoy it at all.

Anyway, I look foward to read another book by Sales.

I would say solid 3 star read, but the epilogue earned it an extra star. I feel the best way to describe it is that it was an enjoyable read but it would make a lame movie.

I have some mixed feelings about this book. On one hand I enjoyed reading it and loved the ending, but on the other hand I can’t see myself reaching for it to read over again either.

 “Like all stories, the one you are about to read is a love story.
 If it wasn’t, what would be the point?”


This is the story of Arden recklessly loyal Arden. She is loyal and caring and will do anything necessary to protect the people she loves, regardless of the consequences she will have to face for it.

You also have Lindsey her best friend. Lindsey is to put it simply a horrible friend. She’s reckless and never stops to think about what could come of her actions. She lets Arden take the fall for her time and time again without a second thought. 
Next you have peter. He writes an online blog/journal about his life “tonight the streets are ours”. His story is intriguing and your left to wonder time and time again if him and Bianca are ever actually going to end up together, I mean they are soul mates aren’t they? But bonjour not everything on the internet is what it appears to be.

Part 2
 At this point your left to wonder ‘are we ever actually going to meet peter or are we just destined to read about him’ (through Arden of course ). A little past half way through the book Arden sets out to find Peter. In New York. And of course she brings Lindsey along with her. 
 I found the New York part of the storyline very intriguing. The two days spent there changes everything Arden thought she knew about the people she cared about and about herself. This time also lindsey for the better as well but I’m still not a huge fan of hers to say the least.

 The ending paragraphs of tonight the streets are ours is everything:

 “I used to think that loving somebody meant sacrificing anything for them. I thought it meant writing a blank check. I thought it meant that you would die without each other. But it turns out that Peter was right about that, too: death and a broken heart are not the same.
 These days I think that love is not so dramatic as all that. Maybe loving somebody means simply they bring out the best in you, and you bring out the best in them-so that together you are always the best possible versions of yourselves.
 You were promised a love story. And this is mine.”

 Leila sales managed to write the perfect ending to Ardens story. You spend the duration of this story waiting to see if Arden falls In love with Peter or Chris, and in the end she falls in love with herself and learns the true meaning of loving someone and truly being loved.

Tonight the Streets Are Ours is a sweet, heartfelt, thoughtful and fascinating addition to every young adult’s contemporary shelf. The novel is the genre at it’s finest; a coming of age story that will capture adults and teenagers alike. And it is without a doubt a wonderful inclusion to anyone’s library and was at the top of my to-read list for 2015.

And it should be on yours, too. Luckily for you, readers, it comes out tomorrow–September 15th, 2015. If you are a fan of the genre, and looking for a new contemporary to read, or a fan of Leila Sales: this book is absolutely for you!

Leila Sales writing is quick paced, poetic, witty and embraces raw human emotion perfectly. It just has a perfect flow to it and warmed my heart for some reason. And while this is my first experience within one of her stories readers will fondly remember her as the woman who penned This Song Will Save Your Life.

I cannot compare it to any of her previous work, but I can say that it was a wonderful read and I’m so thrilled and honored to have been given the chance to devour it.

I had high hopes for 'Tonight The Streets Are Ours' but unfortunately I didn't love it. I felt as though there were a lot of conflicting messages throughout the plot and for some reason I just didn't warm to any of the characters. It was an easy, fun read and I think a lot of people would thoroughly enjoy it. It was cute but had some deeper messages but unfortunately it just wasn't really for me.
