She began her career as a cartoonist and went on to write and illustrate many books for adults and children. Tove became world-famous for her Moomin books, which began with Comet in Moominland in 1946, closely followed by Finn Family Moomintroll. Tove Jansson received many prestigious awards during her lifetime, including the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal. She died in 2001, aged 87.

This book mainly follow the story of the hobgoblin’s hat and the misadventures that moomin, his family and friends go through. This book features so many interesting snippets that is quite different from the famous Moomin cartoon. They definitely changed the script for the cartoon. For instance, it was snork and moomin who caught the ant-lion, not snufkin and mooomin also they called the duplicate of the king’s ruby as the queen’s ruby which is something new that is not presented in the cartoon if I am not mistaken. Also, I absolutely love the parts where hemulen acted as a interpreter for thingumy and bob… him being the only one who understands and even went as far as to defend them is so cute, it melts my heart.
