A good’old Scarpetta like we love ‘em with your psychopathic killer, super-spy Lucy and her team, Marino fit-as-heck and a Benton-Scarpetta tension which releases at the end as it should. So overall, a very pleasant read, very fluent to read and coming full circle which is agreeable after the series around Chandonne... Speaking of the devil... where is he ?! Very surprisingly left out ! Maybe more to come ?

I've read every single Scarpetta novel and the last one I really enjoyed was Black Notice. I think it's actually Cornwell's best novel and the climax of all previous Scarpetta books. I'm afraid I've been disapointed by every single Scarpetta novel Cornwell has written ever since and they just don't seem to do it for me anymore.

I did like this one better than some of the previous books in this series that I've read. However I felt that the ending was rushed?. Like the whole book is all this build up of the case then the bad guy is caught in like the last 5 pages.. I'm going to continue to read them for now, but am hoping they will start to get better.
