Killer Joe
A tense, gut-twisting thriller that asks where the moral line is drawn in the fight for survival. The Smith family hatch a plan to murder their estranged matriarch for her insurance money. They hire Joe Cooper, a police detective and part-time contract killer, to do the job. But once he enters their trailer home and comes face-to-face with their innocent daughter, the plan spirals out of control... Tracy Letts' play Killer Joe was originally staged in 1993 in Evanston, Illinois. It ran for eight months before later runs in Edinburgh, New York and London, including four months in the West End. The play has been performed in fifteen countries in twelve languages, and became an acclaimed feature film directed by William Friedkin and starring Matthew McConaughey in 2011. This new edition is published alongside the new production at the Trafalgar Studios in the West End starring Orlando Bloom, opening in May 2018.
