4.25 Stars Aurora is the terrified bad-ass we all wish we could be in moments of danger. Face death with fear? I think not! Have some sarcastic one-liners instead! I adore this about her. While at times I did feel like her relationships with others could seem a bit forced, mainly her best friend Allison, she seemed like a pretty well-rounded character with purpose. Tristan. I won't say he's my type or anything because brooding, handsome dudes are just not my thing. But I can see what Aurora sees. He does over time become a multi-dimensional character and even somewhat relatable. As for the story itself, it's heavily a romance with just a sprinkle of fantasy. I don't read a lot of romance-centric books so this was definitely a different type of thing for me. On that same note, I felt for it being a fantasy-type book, it could have used a little more world building. It didn't feel like there was enough information about the Fae or their world. *Edited to add* As I was in bed trying unsuccessfully to fall asleep, I started to wonder about their feeding process. It's heavily reliant on humans. Which doesn't make sense to me since they come from a different world. But maybe that will be explained in the next book. This was definitely a fast-paced read. I read the whole thing in two nights and I enjoyed every minute of it (even when I was dying inside). And get this, there's not just ONE twist at the end, but TWO! My mind was reeling and I'm going to sit here impatiently waiting for the sequel! Full disclosure: I did read an earlier version of this book that had few similarities to what it is now. I do occasionally have some twitter banter w/ the author (and other authortube friends). I purchased my own copy of this book for review.

*I WAS GIVEN AN ARC IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW* HOLY SMOKES! When I signed up to receive an ARC, I never expected for this book to be so good and relatable. I always knew college wouldn't be what everyone said it would be. Other than the obvious fact that you'd have loads of homework and exams to focus on, there's also the visiting family factor. Jessi definitely sold this book with that truth, and I loved it. Aurora was a character that I couldn't relate more to. She liked to prove how strong she was, and by that, I mean she didn't want to need saving like every other girl in every other story. In fact, she put Tristan off for a good majority of the book. Who's Tristan? Well, that would be the Dark Fae leader. I can't tell you how much I ogled him in this book. I don't even know what he really looks like, but his personality makes me blind with jealousy! Everything in this book made me crave a sequel; the plot, the characters, the ending, the theme, everything!! Seriously, Jessi is one of my favorite authors, and I know I have a lot of favorite authors, but she is definitely one of them. For all of this, I give this book 5/5 stars.
