Tyler Oakley2016
Pop-culture phenomenon, social rights advocate, and the most prominent LGBTQ+ voice on YouTube, Tyler Oakley brings you Binge, his New York Times bestselling collection of witty, personal, and hilarious essays. For someone who made a career out of over-sharing on the Internet, Tyler has a shocking number of personal mishaps and shenanigans to reveal in his first book: experiencing a legitimate rage blackout in a Cheesecake Factory; negotiating a tense standoff with a White House official; crashing a car in front of his entire high school, in an Arby’s uniform; projectile vomiting while bartering with a grandmother; and so much more. In Binge, Tyler delivers his best untold, hilariously side-splitting moments with the trademark flair that made him a star.

1/17/2019 - My middle school self, as I've said before, was not exactly a critical reviewer. I liked Tyler Oakley's videos at the time (where is he even at these days?) so I felt obligated to like the book. It's okay, middle school Nicole. Good YouTube content does not equal good writing. I apparently found this amusing and thought it had an important message, but I honestly don't even remember reading this. 12/30/2015 - Tyler Oakley has always been one of my favorite YouTube creators and this book really is as funny, positive, and touching as everyone says. Rarely do books cause me to laugh out loud, and I was cracking up reading this. Despite the giggles, there really is an important message and I really enjoyed this.

review on blog: https://librarycutie.wordpress.com/20... If you’ve been following me on Instagram or Twitter then you know i’ve been in a really depressing book slump for the past few months so i’ve decided to listen to Tyler Oakley’s new book Binge, narrated by the queen himself. Saying I loved it is definitely an understatement. It was phenomenal! Tyler, you’ve not only booted my sad emotions to being more happier and positive, but i’m also considering buying your book too, just to have in case i want to read it again. “I aggressively run into things, back up into things, have no depth perception, often forget which buttons and knobs do what, and am easily distracted. But enough about my sex life! Back to my driving skills!” Let me say, I’ve been watching Tyler’s videos for a while, maybe four years, I can’t exactly pin point it but probably 3-4. I remember tweeting “who is tyler oakley?” because I was in the One Direction fandom or something, and he was all over the fandom news, and he FAVED IT! I laughed, and didn’t realize that I would soon be in love with that adorable cupcake. But really, Who is Tyler Oakley? Sure, his life mainly consists on the internet, but what do we know about his personal life? Not a whole life, once you think about it. In this Memior Binge, we get a huge look into Matthew’s life, and who he really is, and what made him who he is today! “Tyler Oakley isn’t my real name.” binge-is-finally-here-01Since I listened to the book on Audible, I’ll rate the performance… can I give it a 100 out of 100 or no? Okay, 5/5 stars! It’s was such a great book, It felt as though Tyler himself was talking directly to me. I felt so involved that I didn’t want to stop listening to it. You get to see the personal and almost secret side of Matthew Tyler Oakley. “No person, no matter how important society deems their relationship to you, has the right to denounce you for who you are.” Not only was this book hilarious, but it was also inspiring and important. Tyler talks about his struggles with an eating disorder, and about his struggle about coming out and how it was hard for his dad to accept it, and the struggles of dating someone who hasn’t accepted themselves. Life isn’t perfect, especially for the adorable and internationally known internet star Tyler Oakley. He lets it all out, literally. I about died when he was talking about driving just to hook up with this guy.. I’m actually cracking up thinking back on it. The audio book is 10 times better than the book, simply because you get to hear Tyler himself, and it’s the best thing ever. His voice expresses everything, and it just connects you with the book in a way you can’t with the book. So, get both! I also want to thank Tyler for the truth he has shown in this book, he’s such a brave guy putting all this out in the open, and I hope e knows this book is a masterpiece, and it’s definitely helped me with so much. Not only did it cheer me up, but it helped me see things much clearer. Also, can we please appreciate bi-curious people because they do exist, thanks! I feel like that, among other things, is something that stuck out most, his appreciation for the LGBTQ+ community, and how he’s really helping everyone in that community with this book. “This is why homophobia is a terrible evil: it disguises itself as concern while it is inherently hate.” I’m not even sure what I was expecting out of this, but it definitely exceeded my expectations by a landslide, I think this made me love Tyler even more! He’s such a unique person, and we all need to enjoy his admirable personality, and just give this memoir a chance. If you barely know anything about Tyler, then i’m pretty sure you would still enjoy the humor and honesty from this book, there’s no doubt you won’t laugh. How can you not appreciate Tyler for speaking out about what he’s dealt with, struggled deeply with, and tried to keep in the past. He’s so real, and he’s so proud of himself that I greatly admire that, and that’s one of the reasons this memoir was so inspiring, because Tyler has inspired me. Okay, I will admit a lot of weird shit is discussed in this book, in between the deep personal topics, but that’s Tyler, that’s what to expect form him, you just… go along with it. “Binge on giving, in all senses. Binge on indulging. We’re told every day from an early age that moderation is key. Count your calories, wait a while before you tell someone you love them, and remember that balance is the path to happiness. While all of those are great in theory, does a lesson taught from someone else’s mistakes resonate just as deeply as the ones you learn yourself? When you binge, you find your own boundaries.” Anyways, If you’re a fan of Tyler Oakley, then why haven’t you read/listened to it yet? You so need to, I recommend the audio if you can, you’ll thank me later. I apologize if this review is so short, I could;t put my thoughts and emotions in any coherent sentences, I just really enjoyed this and I recommend it. Tyler, my twitter is @coffeesphan xx Courtney
