Uncivilized
Reviews

I think this is more a 3.5 stars. It was steamy — real steamy, like we all know Sawyer Bennett Steamy Level. I found it to be kind of a lose adult version of Tarzan and Jane. It made me laugh a lot, but I just really didn’t enjoy it as I’ve enjoyed other of SB’s books.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Uncivilized is one of my favorite Sawyer Bennett books (and it’s seriously the HOTTEST one of hers yet), so I was incredibly happy when I found out that there would be a sequel novella! I absolutely LOVED Moira and Zach in Uncivilized, so Love: Uncivilized was a total treat for me. I adored reading about them again, this time as a married couple with children. It’s been almost eight years of marriage for Zach and Moira, and with two kids and Zach’s blooming career, this couple isn’t spending as much time together as much as they wish they could. Zach is working crazy hours to prove his worth to his uncle, and Moira is left home with the kids, but she’s itching to go back to work. She also misses Zach like crazy, because even when he’s there, he’s not really there – but they still love each other something fierce, and she has no doubt that they’ll get through this bump in their marriage. That is the Zach I miss the most on those nights where he’s too tired to do anything past snuggling into me tight. My primitive, controlling, domineering man that focuses all of these egocentric traits on giving me pleasure, protecting his family, and making us happy. The issues that Zach and Moira and their marriage face just felt so very REAL. Sawyer Bennett did an incredible job with making this story so very relatable. Zach and Moira are not a perfect couple, because no couple ever is, but the love they have for each other, that connection that they had from the very moment they met, is still there. I loved getting this glimpse into Zach and Moira’s married life, experiencing their struggles alongside them, seeing them work their way through problems together. We got lost for a bit, but when it boiled right down to it… Moira and I were created and exist solely for the benefit of each other. When you finish a book, sometimes you just want to read MORE about your favorite characters, you know? Love: Uncivilized is exactly that ‘more’ that I wanted from Moira and Zach. If you loved Uncivilized, you don’t want to miss this follow-up novella! Thanks to the author for generously providing me an ARC to review. Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Holy hell. This is my first time reading a book by Sawyer Bennett, but it certainly will NOT be my last! “I learned that you… Zacharias Easton… are an uncivilized man.” Okay–first off, that blurb right there. It had me hooked the second I read it! I had to know who this dominant, uncivilized man was. And WOW, I was not disappointed with Zach and Moira’s story. Uncivilized is one of the hottest books I’ve ever read–well, I should say that Zach is one of the hottest male characters I’ve ever read. I am in total awe of him–so just a fair warning, make sure to bring a fan with you while you read this book! Zacharias Easton has been living in the jungle with the Caraican tribe for the past eighteen years since he was seven years old. His parents died on a mission trip, leaving Zach to the care of the Caraicans. So Zach lived these eighteen years as a primitive, though intelligent, man. Zach is the epitome of an alpha-male–he is dominant and possessive, but add in a little wildness from the jungle, and you get a character that I absolutely loved to read about. “Oh, baby… I’m going to teach you how good it’s going to feel to be fucked into submission by an uncivilized man.” Hot damn, I really just CANNOT get over how HOT this book was. Dr. Moira Reed is an anthropologist who has been hired to take on the job of assimilating Zach back into modern civilization. She’s smart, witty, and a very independent woman. She owns herself, which I admired about her. She shows compassion towards Zach, never forcing him to assimilate, always ready to help him. Moira and Zach have an undeniable chemistry between them, which Moira tries to ignore and which fascinates Zach. But even as fascinated as Zach is with Moira, he is very resistant to assimilating to the modern American culture. He believes that he belongs with the Caraicans, but he gives Moira some time to try to show him the ways of modern society. I look across the table at Moira and am humbled at the way that she gets me. I first thought that she would try to change me into something I’m not capable of but, instead, she celebrates my diversity from this life. She appreciates it. I loved the relationship that Moira and Zach form. Yes, it is an intensely sexual one, but on a much deeper level, these two learn so much about themselves from each other, Zach especially. Zach finds himself at a loss as his feelings for Moira grow deeper each day he stays with her. He’s torn between his home with the Caraicans and Moira, who is fast becoming his home as well. I loved the tender feelings Zach and Moira grew to feel for each other, because while the sex was ridiculously on fire, it was the emotional bond that formed between them that really made the story for me. His eyes more into me with utter seriousness and purpose. “I’ll be your everything if you want me to.” It may seem like Uncivilized is a slightly dark romance, but it’s not. Which I was really glad about because I just wasn’t in the mood to read one. Zach is dominant, yes, but Moira not a submissive–at least, not all the time. She gives up control to him, but only when she wants to, which is not too often. Uncivilized is also told in both Moira and Zach’s POVs, which I definitely appreciated. Like I said before, I will definitely be reading more Sawyer Bennett books, because the writing in Uncivilized was fantastic. I was swept away by these two characters, and I was hooked to every page from start to finish. 4 stars! An utterly addicting read!
