Undiscovered
Reviews

Dr. Layne Rush's current archaeological dig in the Egyptian Desert may lead her to the city of Zerzura which had been thought to be a myth. Unfortunately, others want to raid the dig site for its riches including Anders, a psychopathic killer who doesn't care who gets in the way of what he wants. Enter Declan Ward and his company Treasure Hunter Security that provides safeguards for sites like Layne's. There is an immediate attraction between Layne and Declan, but they can't allow that to interfere with their jobs.
Undiscovered suffers from the same problem as most short novels; there isn't enough time to develop the plot or the characters. There is an adequate amount of action, suspense, and spice, but the rest is just insufficient. Before the story comes to an end, there is a paranormal aspect that adds to the story, but it isn't explored enough to really make it enjoyable. Overall, Undiscovered needs to be a longer story to make it a satisfying romantic suspense.
*Note - Even though the book is listed as 248 pages, the story is actually only 217 pages.

Treasure Hunter Security is a newly formed organisation which, using the expertise of its former military specialists, protects archaeological digs and their workers around the globe. Former SEAL Declan Ward s the son of a famed treasure hunter and an archaeologist. He grew up around the world of ancient history and he is as comfortable in a musty dig site as he was in the thick of action in his Navy days. When he and his colleagues are contracted to secure a new dig, little did he realise that he was about to take the biggest adventure yet - falling in love!! Dr. Layne Rush is a total history hottie! She forgets the rest of the world exists when she is on the hunt and she has never really been good at relationships. She prefers it when her friends have been dead for a few centuries! But when she is attacked and a relic stolen she bows to pressure and the security team moves is. She soon learns that there is more to the large, muscled, ex-SEAL than brawn. When they are once again attacked she and Declan are isolated from the rest of the team and are wept up in the race to secure a huge trove of priceless artefacts. But a ghost from Declan's past is involved and the danger has just increased to a deadly level! I LOVED this series. I read all of the authors sci-fi work so this was a new genre to tackle from her. I'm a huge Indiana Jones fan and this was a wonderful take on the same kind of world. I love all things ancient so I loved getting swept up in the history and myths of ancient Egypt. There is a great mix of action, adventure, passion and a little "divine intervention". The characters are complex and have a back history and are not just 2 dimensional. We get to meet most of the crew from THS and I'm chomping at the bit to read the rest of the series now. Dec's mum and dad are totally kickass!!! This book reads like a movie and I read it all in one go cos I could not out it down!
