If you know me at all, you know I love cheesy romance books. So you can imagine my excitement when I read all the cheesy reviews for this one. Just reading the blurb and seeing the cover made my heart flip. And it all went downhill from there.

I was so excited, mostly because I thought the book would be from a guy's point of view. You don't see a lot of teen books written from the guy's perspective, so I thought it would be a refreshing change from what i was used to. As it turns out, this book was from alternating points of view, between Hunter, the male protagonist, and Vere, the female protagonist. And what a mistake that was.

Hunter was a well-developed character, and I enjoyed reading his chapters. It was nice to see falling in love from a guy's perspective. Not to mention, the girl is normally the one to love and get dissed first. So that was new. I didn't, however, appreciate his sob story. It felt like it was all thrown in there to give depth to a book that was clearly meant to be a cheesy YA novel. Nonetheless, I still found Hunter to be a character I liked to read about.

But Vere. Oh, Vere. What a horrible character. She is supposedly a junior in high school, but she might as well have been in grade 8. Look, I get it. I don't party or anything either (I'm too busy reading), but that doesn't mean I am completely dense when it comes to any and all things high school. Her naivety was bordering on the line of childish. Actually, no. She was childish. And annoying, unbelievable, and immature. She was a downright pain to read about. There is no way someone as experienced as Hunter would find her inexperience "endearing". A good example of this is at the end of the party at whoever's house (this books didn't have many memorable characters). She's blabbering on about Hunter Kennedy and being in love with him. She's practically delirious in this scene - and for absolutely no reason. She wasn't drunk. She was simply worried that Hunter wasn't going to forgive her after she rejected him. The much more realistic approach to this epiphany would have been, "Wow, I made a mistake. I need to go find Dustin/Hunter and tell him how I feel" as opposed to "ooOommmMMGGGgg I'm in love with him Hunter I love him he's never going to forgive me wait are you talking because I can't hear you over my love for Hunter".

This book, which I have an ePub of, was long. And boring. And lacked cheese. There were few likable characters, and a never-ending list of things that could have been taken out of the book and not made a difference; the extensive and excruciating shopping scenes, the unnecessary 3 chapters long description of Hunter ogling Vere in a bikini - sleeping on a f(^%$*ing rock - and finally, the entire Vere/(Oliver? Thomas? What was his name?) relationship. I could go on. I won't. But I could.

2 stars, only because there were chapters I teared up at. I think I may have even laughed out loud. Once. The chapter where his mom surprises Hunter in Colorado, great. Dustin teasing Charlie about Jenna, and that ridiculous lisp, funny. Everything else: a bore. Not worth the read.

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down and to watch the main characters grow throughout the story line was great. I would definitely recommend this book! so good!

Very very very VERY cute book. Everyone dreams of having a pop star or celebrity falling for you and you get that in this story. When Hunter Kennedy is forced to step back and go into hiding after and accident, he meets Vere. This is when his life REALLY goes haywire. Vere makes him feel like he has a friend for the first time and, well other feelings too. Which is the good part. All in all, I found this book delightful and a quick read.
