I started reading this while expecting that this would blow my mind, especially at the ending. I've read and watched enough reviews of this to expect that much. And while spending my time absorbing every bit of the story, I was actually waiting for that twist to present itself. I've thought of every possible scenarios. While being highly expectant was really not a good thing for a reader, I still found myself expecting. 

And oh my god! 

Though it's not a really perfect story, the writing will just keep you right on the edge of your sit. It will definitely put you in the dark with the main character Naomi and together, you will craved for the truth about why she was admitted to a psychiatric ward and what really happened. It was really a fast read because you just wanted to get to the bottom of it. And for me personally, I wanted to find out the real revelation at the end. Oh boy, I was stunned. The thought about the truth actually blew my mind, as I was hoping I would. With every possible scenarios that came across my mind, nothing has come near the real twist that awaited me. I know that there would be something, but it still shocked me. 

My only problem, the reason why I dropped off a star from my rate, was the execution of the revelation. I thought it was not executed properly as I had a lot of questions left in my mind. Reading through the twist, it was definitely shocking, but after I thought about it and looked back to the previous parts of the book to see how I would perceive it after knowing the truth, it can make you confused. Because I did get confused. Those months before Naomi got admitted, I can't clearly imagine the actual set up of the reality. I can't insert the truth through the stories she told without having discrepancies. Maybe because there are still more to tell in the next book? Maybe. 

Regardless of that issue, I still enjoyed it a lot and it still blew my mind.

PS: I loved Lachlan so damn much I can only I wish a have a man like him in my life through ups and downs

I was hooked from the beginning, Naomi has been admitted to Fairfax, a mental hospital, by her family, against her will. They tell her is has lost her mind but she knows what she saw is real. In order to learn the truth she must tell the story she knows to be true to her new doctor.

This is an unpredictable read. It was full of twist and turns that will leave you in a corner questioning your mental state. I was highly surprised, I'm usually really good at figuring out the twist but this I did not see coming. I loved this book even when I was to scared to go back and find the truth because Naomi, Lachlan, Max and Lana made me feel for them and their story. 

The way Calia has written this story has made me a fan, and kinda question her evil mind.

I can’t help but sometimes judge books by their cover.
 I know it isn’t fair to the author, but it is a marketing ploy. If you have a book that’s aesthetically pleasing, it is more likely that someone is going to pick up your book out of curiosity; that’s just the way it is.
 I admit to being a victim of this marketing scheme.
 Unravel just had one of these covers that caught my eye. I found the summary a bit vague but I was still curious in the end. See, that’s how they get you.
 Unravel is a novel shrouded in mystery that pulls you deeper with every turn of the page. It isn’t until the last few pages that the story finally reveals its true nature, and I wonder if anyone will see it coming.
 
Naomi’s life has spiralled out of control when she wakes up in a mental institution called Fairfax. Several months later she’s made no progress, hears voices in her head, and is starting to believe that truth and reality is starting to blur together. With the help from her new doctor, Naomi begins to unravel the mysteries that led her to Fairfax and the truth she’s desperate to learn.
 Back from college for the summer, young Naomi Carradine decides to spend her vacation with her best friend, Lana. While at a party Lana’s parents are hosing, Naomi meets a young and upcoming stockbroker named Max who becomes everything to her with just one look. While wandering around, Naomi walks in on something that she can’t soon forget, and that one simple act will change the course of her summer forever.
 
I always like to try to associate books with one word or one sentence if I can manage it. If I had to associate Unravel with one word it’d probably be: confusing.
 A lot of elements of this book reminded me of sci-fi novels and the idea of Time Travel or going back in time. There are so many plot holes and things that don’t match up, things that change just by being in the past. To quote one of my favourite movies, Push, “The future can change just by knowing it.” Of course that doesn’t mean it will.
 
I found Unravel mysterious, dark, and complicated.
 When I reached the end I had to read the last several pages a few times to make sure I understood everything that I’d just read. Perhaps I missed something, perhaps I didn’t understand… This would definitely be a book that I’d have to read over a second time to understand it better than the first.
 
Everyone in this book serves as a typical literary archetype. The protagonist, the white knight, the villain, the victim, the healer, etc. I didn’t feel…that this book had any depth in the story or the characters and found it extremely difficult to be emotionally attached to anyone or to feel anything. If anything I wanted to slap a character across the face for being useless. Perhaps this wasn’t the right book to read at the time but it was a quick read and it was a one-shot sitting on my shelf so why not right?
 
Don’t let pretty covers fool you. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the twists that revealed themselves at the end of the novel, however I would have liked there to have been more depth and perhaps more of an explanation concerning Naomi and Lana. If you’re looking for a dark one-shot novel, this is an easy read, that will definitely leave you perplexed.

The constant shifting between the present and the past is a bit confusing at first, but it ultimately ends up weaving a beautifully heartbreaking tale. There isn't a dull moment in this book. I will not lie; the book is pretty heavy at most times. The moment that we find out the supposed "secret" the book takes on a different tone. This isn't something I would normally read, I'm glad that I gave the book a chance. It's a good read. I finished it in one sitting. NOTE: there is a graphic rape scene in the book so if you don't have the stomach for the topic or for the scene(s) (one could argue there are technically two) then this isn't the book for you.

Mystery, love, sex, and heart wrenching suspense!

The characters are so great and I am officially in love with Max!

Some people said that they saw the ending coming, but I certainly did not. I dont want to give any part of this book away, just know that you need to read it ASAP. You wont regret it I promise.
