It’s been a while since I’ve read this book. Like 4 years ago? 5? But well, whatever. I enjoyed it as much as I did all those years ago. Probably even more.

Ah not gonna lie, I definitely didnt enjoy this as much as I did 8 years ago. There were so many problems I had with it this time around I didn't notice when I was younger and idk, of course I still enjoyed it due to nostalgia reasons though.

imma be real i expected to hate this. its been sitting on my shelf untouched for 4 years, however, i’m glad i waited till now to read it because it’s exactly the kind of book i needed right now. also somehow this is my first ever vampire book? where the hell was i in 2009?

I read this book thinking vampire fiction was boring and mainstream, until I read this. Ms. Mead brought me into St. Vlad's, the world of Moroi's, dhamphir's, and Strigoi. In this world, instead of all the vampires being the bad guys, they were all classified according to their ranks and stature. Its pretty unusual but it turned out well. I was surprised too, because Ive read better books over the past couple of months but I really wasnt very drawn into the story. This time, I felt every single emotion our protagonist, Rose Hathaway, conveyed. She was a rule breaker, she was stubborn and frustrating and very impulsive. I didnt like her very much, although Im a young adult myself. I really cannot relate to her, at all. She's very self-confident, to the point of arrogance. She's very aware of her poularity and fame, especially the effects she has on guys. She uses these things to get her way, and she gets very frustrated if she doesnt get her way. Which is why, when her "god-like' instructor comes along, Rose goes crazy from the lack of attention he gives her, which is something unusual for her. I guess Richelle Mead wants her to be that cool girl, the popular, stunning, badass heroine, but in my opinion, she tried too hard. Or maybe my definition of 'cool' just doesnt match with hers.But aside from that, Rose was definitely very bad ass, strong-willed and could stand up for herself. She has her share of misfits and mistakes (mostly caused by her frustratingly impulsive nature), kinda like Buffy. She seems to learn her lessons too, and there was a lot of character development in just one book. I seem to recall feeling the exact same way towards Katniss and Bella. 
I also dissaproved of the shifting dialogue. At times it was poetic but sometimes it got stilted, which was why I was confused about Rose at the beginning. 
 
The story was good, loved the colorful characters, loved the story and I absolutely adore Dimitri. Looking forward to seeing more of rose and the gang.

           Ammetto di essere stata un po' riluttante a leggere questo libro perché la parola "vampiro" ormai mi fa pensare a Twilight ed a tutti quei cloni nati negli anni successivi. Invece non ha niente a che fare con quei libri, e la cosa è positiva per me. Oltretutto mi era stato consigliato da mezzo mondo questo libro quindi era proprio il caso lo leggessi.

Una cosa che non ho effettivamente mai capito è: era necessario che fossero proprio vampiri? No perché la protagonista è una Dhamphir, cioè un incrocio tra vampiro ed umano, e la migliore amica è un Moroi cioè un vampiro puro.. si e quindi? c'entra qualche cosa con la trama? perché se alla fine erano umane o semplicemente dotate di poteri magici così potevamo toglierci i vampiri di dosso? perché sembra una scusa solo per fare soldi perché la parola "vampiri" attira fiotti di ragazzine ultimamente. Ok Lissa ogni tanto morde qualcuno, ma se anche tagliavano questa cosa e la dipendenza dal sangue moroi non sarebbe cambiato assolutamente nulla dalla trama. 

Uhm i personaggi. Rose è partita insopportabile, è migliorata un pochetto alla fine del libro ma l'ho trovata comunque insopportabile. La scrittrice fa di tutto, ed intendo proprio di tutto, per farla passare agli occhi dei lettori come la ganza, bellissima, ammiratissima e da ammirare... però per me fallisce su tutta la linea. Insomma dare della "bastarda fascista" alla maestra d'asilo denota che a) hai dei genitori di merda b) sei una maleducata, e no non fai la figa perché offendi la maestra e non passi nemmeno per trasgressiva ai miei occhi sei solo sfigata.
Parliamo della sua troiaggine? insomma è vergine ma si fa tutti? ma in che mondo vive la scrittrice? ovviamente i ragazzi ci stanno a palpare e sbaciucchiare una ragazza ma lei non vuole andare fino in fondo. Allora scusa perché ti metti nuda sopra di loro? io non capisco, vuole farla passare per troia perché pensa che troia = voluta dai ragazzi = personaggio fantastico... seee! però non vuole che si troia davvero quindi... sorpresa! sarai vergine! ma chi ci crede? fai pace col cervello! Addirittura l'amica del cuore, che sembra una santa scesa dal cielo, è andata più in là di lei. Insomma la cosa non è coerente con il personaggio, non ha assolutamente nessun senso.
Lissa è una palla al piede, ho odiato soprattutto l'uscita dell'autolesionismo. Contando quanto poi l'autolesionismo sia di moda tra le giovanissime ora io avrei evitato. Comunque sembra non riuscire a combinare niente da sola, e la cosa mi irrita terribilmente. 
Dimitri poteva essere un personaggio interessante, ma di lui non ci hanno detto poi molto, stessa cosa vale per Christian anche di lui non ci hanno detto molto. Un buon inizio di seria comunque, la trama era abbastanza interessante anche se alcune cose erano campate in aria. La copertina sia italiana che originale è completamente sbagliata, fa pensare ad un libro appunto per 12enni quando invece non è una cavolata completa.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a story that progresses. The characters show development throughout the story. It's humorous, and discusses serious issues all in one.

I really loved this book
It was interesting 
At first I was skeptical about the whole vampire thing and that's what made me delay reading it but after watching and reading a few non spoiled reviews 
It got me excited for the book
Rose Hathaway is a straight forward person 
She doesn't beat around the bush which avoids a lot of confusion and drama that would have happened in many situations 
She is very loyal to Lissa and values their friendship so much
Jealousy is non existent in their relationship 
She admires Lissa's personality but prefers her own 
Which strengthens their bond even More 
Rose In my opinion enjoys being the Centre of attention and that's why she loves flirting with guys, however when dimitri ignores her even without her trying to flirt with him and not giving her any attention 
She is intrigued and tries her best to impress him and gain compliments from him
That is also beside her unwavering desire to protect her best friend,Lissa 
It was also expressed amazingly that rose even if she acts tough still has feelings and can get hurt and will always be able to make mistakes with good intentions 
However unlike other books rose corrects her mistakes herself
Rose also feels guilty for using mason like she did 
This book in more than one time was cute , simple, and easy on the mind and soul
And some parts where critical and very important 
However throughout the book was written with style and ease that carried the events smoothly tell the end of the book
It was a very enjoyable book

The two were very similar but this one kind of just had more description. I've heard from others that this is the least exciting one of the series so I kind of just powered through it. It wasn't that bad I really liked it and the world was really cool.

Before I picked up this book, I heard many many great things and reviews about the Vampire Academy series and I can see why. This is a different kind of Vampires, not like Twilight or The Vampire Diaries, which makes it even better. Richelle Mead's vampires are referred to as Moroi, and their guardians are Dhampir, and the dead vampires are Strigoi. It took me a while to understand how it worked, but it's bloody brilliant! What I really love is how this story is about two best friends, and their connection between one another is.

this was super duper fun and i flew through it quickly! i have Some issues with it but at the end i'm glad it's sort of resolved, and u bet i'm continuing the series. it's too interesting to pass up

Frostbite is the second installement of the Vampire Academy Series. And is picks up pretty much where Vampire Academy finished. Having loved and got sucked (lol) into the first book. This one didn't grab me as much. For me its the weakest book in the series and just not up to the rests standards. Saying that there is plenty to enjoy and even more twists and turns that leave you aching for the next book.

In Frostbite, all the characters are back as well and some new and fresh ones. Rose is still her fiesty self and we get to watch the relationship between her and Dimitri change a little when Tasha (Christian's Aunt) is introduced. I really liked Tasha she is a strong independant woman who has lived a hard life but doesn't moan about it. As well Rose and Dimitri we have Rose and Mason. I adore Mason he is cute and head over heals in love with Rose. He is the boy next door and it a shame in a way that Rose didn't feel the same. We get to learn a little more about Christian and his back story its really interesting and I would loved to have read more about it. His relationship with Lissa gets more serious and they are always together and in way I didn't like that, Lissa wasnt really in much of the book and I really like her aswell.

As I said above this is the weakest in the series and I was going to give it a 3 star rating. However, I just couldn't bring myself to do it because of one factor and the only factor that made me fall in love. "Little Dhampir." Oh yes, Adrian Adrain Adrian. The lovely, funny, crazy and down right sexy Adrian gets introduced in this one and I really love him. He is my favourite character in the entire series.

Overall, Frostbite is a must read if you have read Vampire Academy but don't expect a mind blowing read. The story itself isn't up to much but there are some twist and turns that you don't see coming and they ending I cried cried cried so much. Im still (after reading this book so many times) undecided if its a good ending or not. You decide.
