I've also had enough death in my life to know this. It's a great example of how real and solid this book is so far.

I've had enough death in my life to know that the real eulogies happened not in church, or at temple, or before an open grave. They happened on the long car rides home from the funeral, or the hushed corners of the family kitchen after the reception. Now I've learned that they too could happen in a crowded, open-air biergarten in the middle of the afternoon. 

It took a long time for me to learn that lesson too. 

Rage is merely another form that despair can take. And it's a form I know well. Not every depressive hides under blankets, shielding themselves in the shadows of their sorrow. Some lash out. Like you and me. 

I loved this book so much. Scifi and a murder mystery made it a great book, but what really elevated it was the underlying theme of how we handle grief. I've lost way too many family members, and so many of them have been lost before their time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who's been through loss, it is a powerful book.
