Part of my favorite series,this book is about one of the most famous monarchs of Great Britain, Queen Victoria. I devoured this book and enjoyed it, which was no surprise as Carolyn Meyer is one of my favorite authors. However, I got annoyed when at least one word on EVERY PAGE was in all capitals, putting an emphasis on so many words, it distracted me.

Unfortunately, I left writing the review for quite a while after I finished this book. (That's what happens when you are a teacher and the next weekend fills up with wedding festivities for your aunt.)

While I enjoyed this book much more than Meyer's other "Young Royals" novels, the book still lacked the depth of good character development, crucial for good fiction, an unavoidable stumbling block for this type of historical fiction.

While I do not recommend this book, I also do not recommend against it.
