A solid thrilling action book

I don't think I've ever read a book about the president being captured and there being hostages before (despite the presumed cliché of this). And it was great to read and felt very very plausible. Considering this is the "first" in the series, I have to give it props for doing something bold. And having read the two prequel books first, it felt very much like Mitch had grown up and was at peak lethality.

Enjoyed the story. Pretty good pace. Found myself unable to put the book down @ 2:00 AM ... but the end was anticlimactic and the reason I only gave it 3 stars.

Did I expect to read this in my lifetime? Absolutely not. 

Thrillers tend be to be overlooked in my mind. However, during a reading slump my dad handed me this book saying it was fast paced. Note here, my dad also handed be Daniel Suarez's Delta V, which has convinced me out of space travel. When it comes to these types of books, he's proving he is aware. This was fast paced, easy to read, and a great distraction from life. My main negative is that you can tell this was written for a male audience, as women are described as either pretty or by how many children they have. (Unpopular Opinion: Can the real hero be Dr Kennedy?)

Definitely pick this up if you like politics, need something fast paced, and can deal with a novel clearly meant for men. I enjoyed Flynn's novel for what it was, which says that it had enough substance to keep me reading.
