I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but wanted to give this book a try. While it was a little slow at points, the latter half of the book flew by, and I didn't want to put it down. What a wonderful story of love and life's purpose.

Review: When we first meet our hero he is a wild and feral puppy. One who faces the distraction that humans can cause soon after being captured by a loving woman who has too big a heart for our furry friends. His life is ended by man and he then is reborn to a backyard breeder. Where soon after he meets Ethan his first real human companion. A lot of time is spent with Bailey and Ethan until yet again Bailey is reborn. A continuous path through the novel. 

Cameron manages to capture the thoughts, feelings, and lives of the humans through the eyes of a dog, repeatedly. Introducing many characters to our main character, whose lives are varied and trying. Overall Cameron's ability to bring to life the idea of reincarnation and why a dog is on earth is quite splendid. 

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading, but especially to those who are animal lovers.

A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron is a lovely but heartbreaking story about a dog named Toby and his incarnations. 

Let me tell you I have never read anything like this book. It’s something new and fresh that I would recommend literally everyone on this goddamn planet because you can literally just learn from it. The story is written from the perspective of the protagonist Toby - who is a dog and acts like a dog and thinks like you would think a dog thinks like. Wow, that were a lot of ‘think’s’ but it’s true.

The book is simply brilliantly written, has an amazing and unique plot and has the right balance between laughter and heartbreak. I only read the first book of this series though (I believe there are three in total) and I sure hope to get to read the other books at some point in my life. 

This book gets and in my eyes definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 stars, simply because it is that unique (at least to me).

From the first chapter this book was heartbreaking, told entirely of a dogs perspective. As the dog is reborn every time it passes. 

The book was funny, heart warming and heart breaking.

I got this as a book to read on a flight from NY to London and I read the entire thing. I really enjoyed reading a book from an unusual perspective and finished the book during the flight. Would recommend for any dog lover
