Wait for It
Reviews

Besides the pretty cover, Wait For It felt very forced and childish. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook, but I don’t think I would have finished if I was reading the paperback. I was mostly intrigued by the premise of the exchanging of notes before the actual meet, but the conception of this did not meet my expectations. It didn’t last very long and wasn’t really flirty at all. I thought they would more or less flirty and fall for each other through their note exchanges, but that isn’t what happens. The workplace drama felt so childish and unrelatable. It made me cringe more than anything. And his background was unnecessary and a lot. The insta-attraction didn’t work for me. It was frustrating. He creepily watched her out his window and she saw a hot guy in the window and wanted to meet him… there just wasn’t much in the falling in love department. The ending is abrupt and everything gets tied up so nicely and I just didn’t believe the romance would have progressed so quickly.

the pacing of this book was so weird. the main couple didn't even meet until like page 200 then 2 pages later they were in love then by the end of the book they're getting married. HUH. it was also just kind of boring and there was no chemistry whatsoever. for the first time ever in my life i wanted to skip the "spicy" parts because it just felt so uncomfortable and forced for these characters to be doing that. oh well onto da next one

This was a cute romcom, but I wished it was longer. I loved the characters and their complexities and issues, but I felt that too much time was skipped in between scenes in the third act (ya know, after the characters get together but before the Inevitable Breakup). I didn’t feel as much as normal when the breakup came because we barely spent any time with them as a couple before it. If we’d spent more time with them together (and if the book had been 100-200 pages longer to do so, both before and after the Inevitable Breakup) I think it would’ve been a 5 star read for sure. But either way, still good, still cute, still enjoyable, still very much in love with Nick Daire.

Def rec. Had a mild level of sex scenes and had any actual plot with multiple storylines in play.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the main characters (you get both POVs), something was just slightly off about them. I HATED the ending. It felt so rushed and unnecessary after all of the development between the two characters. It was a fun easy read that I would still recommend, but I probably wouldn’t read it again (at least not for a while)

I loved this book
It was amazing and had me holding my breath

If you like Me Before You, you will like this book! This one even has a happy ending! Quick-paced read and charming.

4.5 ⭐️ Annabelle and Nick really are soulmates. I wasn’t sure there was spice but there is and it kinda make me happy 😩. I mainly bought the book because of the cover and it’s worth it ❤️

Annabelle Martin has just dodged a marriage proposal from one of her two ex-husbands, and she's looking to get out of town fast. So, when her best friend offers her a dream position as the creative director at their up-and-coming design firm, Annabelle doesn't think twice before uprooting her life in Boston to make for the Arizona desert. When she arrives in Phoenix, Annabelle is immediately intrigued by her reclusive landlord and the grumpy handwritten notes he leaves for her when she breaks any of his ridiculous "rules." Annabelle assumes he's a crotchety old man, so imagine her surprise when she discovers that Nick Daire is only a few years older than her, hotter than a house on fire, and uses a wheelchair to get around. Not long ago, Nick suffered a stroke, and while there's nothing physically wrong with him to necessitate the wheelchair, he struggles with paralyzing anxiety that won't allow him to fully recover. Despite his icy exterior, Annabelle is determined to worm her way into Nick's life, and she might be the cure he's been looking for. I've been in such a romance reading mood lately, and this cover looked so fun that I just had to pick it up. While it was cute and fun, it didn't wow me as much as I was hoping it would. I thought the characters were enjoyable, and I loved the whole grumpy/sunshine vibe that Annabelle and Nick had, but the plot felt lacking. McKinlay's writing was a little too descriptive, and there were a lot of passages I found unnecessary. Knowing Annabelle's exact outfit down to her jewelry or her recipe for fettuccine alfredo did nothing to move the plot along. I also felt the romance between her and Nick was strangely paced. It was slow-burn, but then once it heated up, they went all-in. I needed a bit more build-up to make the ending seem believable. I think this would be a good summer read, but I've seen this trope done better in other books.

This was a cute and entertaining read. Both characters had there own issues that they needed to come to terms with and work on. Watching Nick go from the grumpy landlord to this amazing man with the heart of gold was so endearing. Loved it and highly recommend picking this up.

DNF. There are spoilers I guess but also woof this book was BAD so I’m not hiding my review sorry. I tried really really hard to give this one a chance. When I hit the halfway point and still hated all the character I had to admit to myself it was a waste of time. Annabelle is a manic pixie dream girl if I ever read one; she somehow goes from freelancing to lead the creative department of an up and coming ad agency run by her BFF, all to escape a proposal from her ex-husband who she’s been sleeping with for a year? Like? There’s obvious tension between her BFF and her bff’s husband about hiring her, and this is literally the only plot point I’m interested in. There’s a terrible guy at work who is bff’s husband’s college friend, who Annabelle has somehow NEVER HEARD OF until she starts working with him in a position that bff’s husband obviously wanted to hire him for. BFF hates him so much SHE PLANNED HER WEDDING FOR A DAY HE COULDN’T MAKE IT, but again, Annabelle has literally never heard of him before. Sounds massively fake but okay? And he guy is over the top terrible, half the employees hate him, and yet this has never been addressed by her friends, the heads of the company?! What the fuck?? And don’t even get me started on Nicholas, the horrible, douchey, only-slightly-less-horrible-about-being-disabled-than-Me-Without-You landlord Annabelle has. Just... what the fuck? I don’t see HOW any of these characters can be redeemed for me in the 49% of the book that I have yet to read. Oh! Also! Racial stereotypes abound! They’re in Phoenix but the only Latinx folks are the live-in handy man and house keeper? I’m??? Honestly this is just not worth it. I was fooled by the pretty cover, but you don’t have to be!
