i am giving this book 5/5 stars!! it was read and complicated to read, as i had virtually no background knowledge on any of these (very serious, very important) topics

i've been wanting to read this book for a while, and it took me an incredibly long time (A FULL MONTH!), but i would really reccomend it to anyone who wants to better learn about foreign policy, government, and the complicated nature of the world we live in. 

ronan farrow's style of writing is easy to understand and follow, while being gripping and interesting. 

for me, the book really picked up about 25% in! 

learning about richard holbrooke through ronan farrow's eyes was incredibly beautiful.

riveting. the format was real good, and the content, especially many of the interviews, was impressive. the book is all about how the shrinking influence of the US state department is a problem that needs to be addressed otherwise, as history has shown again and again, there’ll be repercussions.
