I don't usually like novella's much. Not that there's anything wrong with them, just not really my cup of tea?

I really only picked these up because I heard there was a few interesting tidbits I'd miss if I didn't - and because it's Cassandra Clare and who am I kidding I've got to read her stuff. 

I'm glad I picked this up. These short stories offer insight into Simon, and his life after the events of City of Heavenly Fire. Now restored to a mundane ( though one with no recollection of who he really is, or was, prior to CoHF ) he travels to Idris to begin training at the Shadowhunter Academy. 

I love how this story has developed so far. The insight into Simon's headspace after losing his memories is unique and valuable. 
I've heard this is the worst of the novella's soo -- I'm really excited for the others !!

I was already a fan of Simon, I enjoyed his sarcastic humor and nerdy awkwardness. I definitely enjoyed this novella, as well as laughed quite a few times. I'm already growing find of George Lovelace, even if (view spoiler)[he's an adopted mundane (hide spoiler)].

I listened to the audio which was narrated by Devon Bostick, you might know him as Jasper from CW's The 100, and enjoyed his narration!

I'm not sure how I feel about that Johnathan/John Cartwright, he seems a bit stuck up and full of himself, but who knows, I may grow fond of him over time.

So excited to start this and find out other memories Simon regains and if he finally decides he's good enough for Izzy again, I'm glad he has a fried in George.

After City of Heavenly Fire I was pretty much done with the Shadowhunter world. It's been 9 books and Cassandra Clare just keeps bringing new series out of nowhere and I just wasn't feeling it anymore. But, the other day I saw this, and I saw it was about Simon and I guess I've been feeling nostalgic so I just couldn't help myself. 

Welcome to Shadowhunter Academy starts with Simon going to the Shadowhunter Academy because he's not comfortable training with his friends from New York because it's too much pressure to meet their expectations. Which is understandable but still it was a bit of shock to me because my impression at the end of CoHF was more optimistic. 

Honestly, I actually enjoyed this, it was really short but I found myself feeling quite emotional in some parts, and even there might have been a few tears (what can I say? I'm an idiot). I think I will keep reading the next parts, specially considering that in the third one my baby Will Herondale is appearing or something. So, if you're feeling nostalgic and miss the TMI gang then I would recommend this to you, if you're not then it's okay because you're not missing that much.

A few comments with some spoilers:

- I loved the interaction between Simon and Jace at the beginning. That was pretty great.
- I felt like Simon was a bit of Harry Potter with the whole you're famous!! You're Simon Lewis! 
- When Simon started to remember Jordan... OH MAN. That crushed me. I wasn't expecting Jordan's death in CoHF and I hated Maia's total indifference towards that so it was nice to see someone actually sad because of his death. Because I sure was.

"None of this is fair. It isn't fair that part of your life was ripped from you. It's not fair that you were ripped away from me. I'm so angry, Simon".  

- ISABELLE BEING VULNERABLE. My poor darling angel, she deserved the happy ending and Simon was such an idiot!!! To be honest, one of my main motivations to keep reading this is that I want to see Simon and Izzy make up and being the perfection that they were before he lost his memories. I NEED IT. But I did enjoy it. It has great potential. I love that we have a Scottish guy in the mix as well. Can't wait to read the next one!

Simon es mi personaje favorito y esperaba mucho de este primer tomo. 
Sé que él ha perdido la memoria pero aún así creo que Cassie lo tomó muy al extremo y quitó gran parte de la personalidad de Simon , la cual él tenía ANTES de todo el drama de los shadowhunters
Y QUE ES ESO DE ROMPER A MI OTP?!?? 
Bueno tendré que esperar otra vez para seguir :/

Well, I can't really say a lot without giving it away, as is per usual with a novella but here's what you need to know.

This snippet includes Simon going to the newly (re)opened Shadowhunter Academy. Now that the war with Clary's family is over and lots of Shadowhunters have died, they are returning to their use of the Mortal Cup to try to make more Shadowhunters. Not in a bad way, it's all voluntary. 

It also includes a brief scene with all of our favorites: Clary, Jace, Isabella, Alec, and Magnus. There is also a new character introduced named George and I kind of like him. He can be my new bff if he wants. 

Basically it just covers Simon getting acclimated to the new academy and his Shadowhunter training while dealing with the fact that though a lot of people see him as a hero, he doesn't actually remember anything he did to warrant that title. 

It's an interesting (and funny) read if for no reason other than the following two paragraphs about horses (which as the owner of five horses, I find to be an incredibly accurate portrayal).

"Simon, precariously balanced on top of a huge beast that was both rolling its eyes and apparently trying to tap-dance, did not feel this was any sort of treat." 

And then it continued:

"Simon’s horse was defective, or possibly a genius that had worked out that Simon could not possibly control it. It went off for a wander in the woods, with Simon on its back alternately pleading , threatening, and offering bribes. If Simon’s horse could read his every thought, then Simon’s horse was a sadist."

Me llevo realmente mucho tiempo el comenzar a leer estos libros pero como fiel amante de este tipo de literatura, decidi que ya era hora de leerlos.

Con este primer libro debo decir que Cassandra hizo un gran trabajo. Al fin vemos mas de Simon de lo que nos mostro en los libros anteriores y eso llena mi corazon de una felicidad inmensa, ya que Simon Lewis siempre ha sido mi personaje favorito. 

En cuanto a la historia me ha encantado el primer vistazo que nos da Cassandra de la vida en la Academia que me hace replantearme que en si la secundaria fue hermosa comparada con todo lo que ha tenido que vivir Simon.

Otra cosa a destacar son los nuevos personajes. Gracias Cassandra por ese pequeño regalo que nos has dado.

Tambien debo agregar que aunque me doliera horriblemente la perdida de memoria de Simon, se siente bien que tenga una segunda oportunidad, y que en esta si pueda decidir, ya que no esta bajo ese enamoramiento juvenil por Clary que tenia durante los primeros libros y que lo hicieron llegar hasta donde llego. Creo que es una bella oportunidad para Simon y Cassandra de mostrarnos quien realmente es Simon.

Finalmente, este libro se gano un pedacito de mi corazon, como lo han hecho todos los libros de Clare, y solo me queda decirles que leere los siguientes lo mas rapido que me den los ojos.

I have been looking forward to Simon's story since I finished City of Heavenly Fire! With that said Cassie delivered wonderfully. I love how the story weaved together bits of Simon's past while he tries to discover who he is now in the present. I can't wait for the next! :)

I was really excited to get back into the shadowhunter world after being immersed in Rick Riordan's demigod one. While I'm sure this was not the best book in this series/bind-up, it was still really entertaining and I enjoyed it. 4/5 stars!

So we start where Simon is packing his back to go to Wizarding School Shadowhunter Academy, where he is going to learn to fight, learn the history, and then possibly not transcend into the army of the angels. 

It was very interesting to get back to the roots of the Shadow World Clare dreamed up for us. Simon is dealing with a lot. He doesn't know everything that happened to him and doesn't really remember his past-but-other-parallel-line self. He doesn't remember who he loved, but he still feels all the feelings he had. 

He still knows that he has a deep connection with Clary and that it was a tangled mess. He still knows that he might have had stronger relations with Izzy. He knows that he was once a hero, but he doesn't know if he is still that person that can be a hero.

But... he also thinks him and Jace were really close. So there is some confusion with how he feels.

The writing in this was really refreshing. I didn't ever enjoy the writing style of The Mortal Instruments, as you would know if you read my review, but the story was always a strong one. The writing here is a lot better (even though it is a novella) and the characters are still loved. 

I think it is important to read these before The Dark Artifices. I didn't, and I already know how some things end. So if you don't want spoilers, I would read this after you finish The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices and The Bane Chronicles, but before you read The Dark Artifices.

Capisci quanto ti era mancato questo mondo quando al solo nominare Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Alec e Magnus ti viene un sorriso da ebete lungo un chilometro *-*.
Adoro questa novella, sono troppo contenta che la Clare ci abbia dato questa opportunità di stare un altro pò con Simon (che per la cronaca è un narratore eccezionale!)
Ho qualche dubbio che quel Jon conosca davvero Jace, ma vabbe è il prezzo della fama u.u. Simon è fantastico, mi ha fatto morire dalle risate! Anche se avrei voluto spaccargli la testa contro il muro, Sizzy feels sono sicura che potrete capirmi ;).
E adesso col vostro permesso mi butto sulla seconda novella, già il fatto che potrebbero esserci di mezzo gli Herondale è un bonus *-*
