Flipped is an engaging and thought-provoking read. The author masterfully weaves multiple perspectives, skillfully shifting between the views of the two main characters, Juli and Bryce. This technique keeps the reader enthralled, always wondering how the other person sees the situation.

The author also employs suspenseful pacing, slowing down key moments to deeply explore the characters' emotions and internal thoughts. This heightens the intensity and drama, making for a truly immersive experience.

Underpinning the captivating storytelling is a powerful thematic message - that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The book eloquently conveys the idea that true value lies not in individual elements, but in how they come together to form something extraordinary. This thought-provoking lesson elevates Flipped beyond mere entertainment, making it a must-read.

Girl I guess, I’m honestly not sure what I read lol, the second half was a mess, I’m sorry. Just sped to the end. I still don’t like Bryce, Julianna deserves better. Jon seems really nice.

i wish the book elaborated more about bryce's redeeming qualities other than his beautiful eyes and smile. may be his jackassery was necessary for juli to be flipped but i love juli enough not to bless her with this undeserving kid, at least not yet in his current state. we did see bits of his turning points but i wish i could see more of his resulting character development. 3.5/5

It took me longer than it should’ve to read this book, (especially since it’s quite short).

I was worried this book would be the typical ‘they hate each other and suddenly BOOM, they’re madly in love’ kind of a romance but needless to say, I was fortunately proven wrong.

This has absolutely become a new go-to comfort read for me, the dual narrative of Juli and Bryce seemed realistic, and I love how the same experiences are told by both but yet you can see the different mindsets, the different angles of Juli and Bryce’s perception.

Van Draanen has managed to make such a difficult to describe/talk about topic among teens/preteens, so relatable and you can tell she has experienced these feeling firsthand.

Would recommend and would absolutely read again.

This is the exact kind of thing I would have wanted to happen to me as an eight grader. The only boys I had in my life in eight grade were members of One Direction. Apart from the cute romance side to it, I think this book had some good messages to it about looking beyond the surface of people and getting to know them. That’s all, now I’m going to go watch the movie cause it’s adorable.

this book was adorable. I found it extremely easy to change from the boys perspective to the girls. I loved that I got to see both perspectives. it really changed what was really happening. the writing was beautiful. the character was amazingly put together and the storyline was great. I thought that the book was just so relatable, so easy to understand and connect to. there was a lot of emotion and lots of stress and thinking and worrying. it was, as I said, relatable. I really liked it.

I have reread this book so many times already. It’s an amazing and sweet romance book. She loves him but he doesn’t then when he finally realizes that he loves her she decides it’s time to give up the feelings she has for him. It’s a sweet and innocent book and would recommend.

I feel like this could have been longer so that some of the side plots could have been explored to a deeper level. Overall, the book is very light hearted and you are reminded of your own childhood crushes. I really enjoyed that the book was written from a dual perspective so that we could see how both Juli and Bryce respectively experienced the story.

"A painting is more than the sum of its parts." Climbing trees, sunsets, crushes, and kites.... such a flipping cute story! I absolutely loved the way Wendelin told the story from two different perspectives. The reader gets to know the two different sides of the story "Juli's and Bryce's" and that my friends, is a very clever technique! since we always wonder what the other character in the story is thinking or feeling. Some have found this "retelling the situation" pretty boring and repetitive, but I honestly enjoyed it. I mean getting to know how each of them encountered a specific situation and their different interpretations of it, how cool is that? Favorite characters: Juli's father and Bryce's grandfather. Highly recommended for whoever is looking for something light and cute.
