I really liked how depression/anxiety/darker thoughts were portrayed in this book because they were very much disruptive but also still a part of her and her personality. She learns how to look at the red and sharp thoughts and accept that they're hers but she takes them and absorbs them.

What can I say what won’t spoil the story for everyone lol. This follows Sophie as she comes to the island her grandma grew up on to audition to go to this school. As she is practicing and preparing for her audition she tried to take matters into her own hand. Thats were Lir comes in and watching their friendship grow was just utter magical. I loved the whole story, the characters and the plot. I hope to one day see more of Sophie and Lir and the rest of the family. I highly recommend to everyone.

Very cutely drawn. Some cool drawing conventions. Like I liked that when Sophie wasn't paying attention, the speech bubbles just disappeared into the background. And the red text for her negative thoughts was a nice touch.

I really liked this story and found the message, surprisingly deep despite how simple it is. Even if the aunt was right on many points, her message was clouded because of how harsh she was being. It's not easy to recognize one's flaws or apologize after mistakes are made.

tidesong was a really cute graphic novel, but i felt a bit disappointed to be honest. i guess my expectations were too high, especially after seeing it pitched as perfect for fans of studio ghibli. the characters and especially the mc often annoyed me but i did also relate to sophie with some parts of her personality. i liked the art style and thought the magic system was quite interesting! i also loved that there were witches and dragons of course! i mostly enjoyed the story even though i felt like it was missing something.
