Thank you to Silver Shamrock Publishing for providing me with a copy of Slaves to Gravity in exchange for an honest review! I'm pretty sure this is my first time dabbling in cosmic horror & wow, what a blast it was. If anything, we're more alive now that we've ever been. I had zero idea as to what I was stepping into with Slaves of Gravity. Is it weird that when I first started I thought this novella was so stinkin' cute? I loved Charlie and her relationship with her husband, Marcus. I loved the found family/crew that she met in the sky & although she was dealing with her injuries, it seemed like a fairly happy story. Until it wasn't. Slaves to Gravity definitely gets dark at some point & goes into a few unexpected twists & turns. Slaves to Gravity provides the reader with as much adventure as it does the characters in the story. It's really easy to feel for the characters, especially Charlie and Sean. For being a fairly short read, this novella really does pack a punch. I thoroughly enjoyed Slaves to Gravity and am planning on looking into more work by both authors, Wesley Southard & Somer Canon. Plus, definitely going to check out more things in the cosmic horror sub-genre. Also, small note but something that makes me happy (what can I say? I'm easy to please): there's a little black & white illustration of The Gateway Arch in St. Louis above every chapter header & I don't know -- it's the little things, ya know?
