Cute story. The Mamma Mia connection is pretty well done. TBH, I am more interested in the adults in the story than I am the teenagers which is a problem since the adults are all background characters. I would much rather read this story from Beth and Coop's viewpoint.

Also, I'm not sure it's intentional, but the grand reveal seemed almost like a set up for a sequel because the birth mom doesn't seem to have had any proof that Millie's dad is her actual birth father beyond her wish that it were true. 

TBH, I would have rather read this story from Georgie and Steph's perspective too, or Farrah and Heather's. The adults in this book and the ways they were all connected was far more compelling for me than the teenage angst of a couple of theatre nerds 😅

The audio was okay, I didn't love the narrator, but they didn't make it a mess.

I really don’t know what I was expecting from this one, but it really surprised me! The drama, the rivalry and I loved Millies little explotions! I am embarrassed about how long it took me to figure out who was her mom😂 but when I got it I was so invested in when she was gonna say something 😨

I am so happy she got a happy ending and that Beth and her father ended up together😫

Is it too early to use terms like favorite of the year or best book of the year? Maybe! I'm going to say that this book could be my favorite of the year. I just loved the characters- they were fun, and Millie's love of theater reminded me a lot of myself at 16-17. I loved the plot, I'll be singing Mamma Mia! songs for a bit after reading this, but this was just such a great story and had a lot of fun, and heavy moments in the plot. I really loved the writing. This was my third book by this author, and my favorite one to date. This was because there were many theatre references in the story. The romance in the story was so sweet, and the friendships were just so much fun. I loved seeing Millie make relationships and friendships with the other characters in the story. I recommend this book to anybody who loves theater, or anyone who would like a fun YA story with a lot of heart and passion.

My heart has never felt so full after finishing a book.  I loved this book so much, Millie is now one of my favorite book characters of all time.  I laughed with her, cried with her, and could relate so much to her outgoing personality.  This was such a wholesome, loving book about family, finding yourself, and friendship.  I absolutely loved all of the romance also, I was almost swooning.  My cheeks almost hurt from how much I was smiling while reading this book.  You definitely can’t go wrong with a gender reversed Mamma Mia story.

Millie Price is an aspiring future Broadway star living with her dorky Dad and her awesome, club-owning aunt Heather.  She just received her acceptance to the precollege of her dreams which means moving to the opposite side of the country and leaving her friends and family behind.  When she can’t get consent from her dad, she decides to try and find the mother she’s never met in hopes of getting her on her side.  Her techie best friend Teddy helps her out and finds her dad’s old journal online, identifying three women that could potentially be her mother.  While working with her arch nemesis Oliver, Millie starts digging into the three women’s past and getting to know them better in hopes of identifying which of the three is her true mom.  Along the way, Millie starts to learn more about her true self while gaining new friendships and relationships along the way.

This was an adorably sweet book that I couldn’t get enough of.  I loved the ending of this book but I wish it was longer, I want more from Millie, Teddy, Oliver, Chloe, and the rest of Millie’s family and newfound family.

I loved this cute, quick read! There was so much going on, between Millie trying to find her mom and getting to know 3 different women and their lives, her rivalry/crush on her nemesis Oliver (while working at an internship), geocaching with her best friend, and fighting with her dad over attending a new school in a new state. The way Emma Lord can blend all of these together so masterfully is nothing short of amazing.

Before I read this, I was excited. You see, my husband was a theater kid, and I love musical theater. I have been known to burst into tears at shows when the music is powerful (I'm looking at you Wicked). Then, around the middle of the story I began to relate to Millie in ways I did not see coming. 

Millie lives her life as though she is always on stage - she's loud, she bursts into people's lives whether she should or not, and she's always in costume. I could relate to that how I was in high school too. Wearing "weird" clothes, being loud - anything to distract everyone from seeing the real me. Reading about Millie realizing this about herself cut a little closer to home than I thought it would.

Throw in the romance, and the page turning what-will-happen-next fervor of if Millie would get to go to her new school, and WHO IS HER MOM, and we have here another hit! Emma Lord is definitely one of my go-to authors now!
