Where Winter Finds You

Where Winter Finds You Black Dagger Brotherhood #17.5

J.R. Ward2019
When Trez lost his beloved to a tragic death (The Shadows, Black Dagger Brotherhood #13), his soul was crushed and his destiny seemed relegated to suffering. But when he meets a mysterious female, he becomes convinced his true love has been reincarnated. Is he right? Or has his grief created a disastrous delusion? Therese has come to Caldwell to escape a rift with her bloodline. The revelation that she was adopted and not born into her family shakes the foundations of her identity, and she is determined to make it on her own. Her attraction to Trez is not what she’s looking for, except the sexy Shadow proves to be undeniable. Has fate provided a grieving widower with a second chance...or is Trez too blinded by the past to see the present for what it really is? In this sensual, arresting book full of the themes of redemption and self-discovery, two lost souls find themselves at a crossroads where the heart is the only compass that can be trusted...but that may require a courage that neither of them possesses.

Check out this and my other reviews at My Blog, Facebook,Twitter and Pinterest ★Book Basics★ Genre : - Paranormal Romance Series : - 17.5 in the series Love triangle? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Cheating? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] HEA? - (view spoiler)[Yes (hide spoiler)] Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - yes Rating - 3 stars ★Review★ I have to be honest - I was not sure about this story when I heard about it - and even now I still am not! Trez was still so deep in his grief. And Therese to me, was a bit cold about her family and they way she kept referring to them - made it hard to warm to her. Maybe I was meant to just have lingering warm feelings left over from Selena?? I honestly do not know what I think - I don't feel like there is a true "link" between Selena and Therese - they are 2 different people with 2 different backgrounds, histories etc - which then means the love between Therese and Trez is not real. Therese is still a stand in for Selene - even if I am meant to think they are one soul. Overall I am glad Trez has a HEA - just not how it came about.

I had such high hopes for this one because I LOVE Trez and his story broke my heart in The Shadows. I was so looking forward to seeing how he would get his second chance at love, and while I did enjoy being back in the BDB world, the romance just wasn’t enough for me here. The story definitely focused more on Trez’s grief more than anything else. The ending also wrapped up a little too quickly and easily for my taste. Still, I’m beyond happy Trez finally got his HEA!
