William Blake's poetry evokes the essence of one who strides directly out of a dusty textbook. Ornate language, rigid rhymes, and fervent religiosity—yes, it's all there, the very qualities that make "poetry" for some and a snooze-fest for others. While historical merit deserves acknowledging, this collection struggles to ignite modern sensibilities.
Glimmers of beauty shine through, particularly in nature-kissed lines. Yet, thematic monotony casts a heavy shadow. The lack of diverse ideas and contemporary resonance leaves one yearning for freshness and engagement. Ultimately, Blake's symphony of tradition, for all its craftsmanship, falls silent on today's ears.
