I've previously read the greatest story ever written. I've watched it multiple times. Given my recent obsession with audiobooks, I searched out and audio edition of this book after watched the movie last weekend. 

DO NOT BUY THIS AUDIOBOOK ON AUDIBLE. OR ANYWHERE, FOR THAT MATTER.

Get it from the library. That what I did, after reading reviews with similar sentiments.

This edition is heavily abridged. As in, the audio is about the length of the movie, around 2 hours. And yet, the audio is devoid of the visuals and acting present in the movie. 

Rob Reiner is a decent narrator, as he directed the movie, but he lacks the charm of the actors he directed. All in all, this edition of this story is vastly inferior to the print book and the movie. In fact, it's probably only good as a) a refresher for the novel if it's been a while since you've read it and for some odd reason don't want to just read the print novel and b) making you want to read the print novel. 

I mean, it's a good listen. But the movie and the print novel are vastly superior.
