I finished Demelza and went immediately to the third book in the series!

This one starts with some drama. Ross has made enemies of powerful men. Because of his role in the looting of a couple of wrecked ships (one belonging to one of those enemies), he's been bought to court, accused of various crimes. There's a real risk he'll end up transported or hanged.

Other stuff happens too, of course. There's more mining, more family drama. Elizabeth, the woman Ross meant to marry, but who married Ross's cousin instead, continues to cause Demelza worry. Ross just can't quit her, the more fool he.

This book was a little shorter than the last, but still enjoyable. There's more mining drama on the horizon. Ross's enemies are lurking. But family quarrels are easing!

I like this series.

Cornwall, 1790. Ross Poldark faces the darkest hour of his life. Accused of wrecking two ships, he is to stand trial at the Bodmin Assizes. Despite their stormy married life, Demelza has tried to rally support for her husband. But there are enemies in plenty who would be happy to see Ross convicted, not least George Warleggan, the powerful banker, whose personal rivalry with Ross grows ever more intense.

Set in the closing years of the Napoleonic Wars, this novel is part of the Poldark saga. At the heart of the novel stand Demelza and Ross Poldark, their son, Jeremy, their daughter, Clowance, and the rival family, the Warleggans.
