It has been almost 20 years since I saw Forrest Gump the movie, so I went into this book with minimal recollection and few expecatations. I just wanted a book set in Alabama and written by an Alabama author.

I laughed so hard I cried when I read this. Forrest is funny and charming, as I remember him being in the movie, but even more so here because he is not rated G in the book - he cusses and can be crude and his escapades are both outrageous and (almost) believable because he is so much more realistic here. 

I loved this book. I wish I didn't have to give it back to the library so I could always have it around for a pick-me-up and to hear the Southern accent I miss from home.

The life of an endearing idiot savant is marked by encounters with some of the most famous figures of the twentieth century. Reprint. Movie tie-in.

While I wasn't necessarily a fan of this book, I still give it three stars due to the fact that I do like that I have finally read it, and I don't regret the time spent reading it. I love Tom Hanks an embarrassing amount, and the film has just lived with me so long that all of the events in the book that didn't make it into the film just seem wrong. I am sorry - but sometimes the film is better than the book.

J'ai pas bien su quoi répondre, vu que la causette c'est pas mon point fort. N'empêche que je mes suis retrouvé à l'université. pour courir avec le ballon et pour que les autres gonzes m'attrapent pas. Après, ça a été l'armée. " Vous ne pouvez pas prendre mon fils, que m'man leur a dit. Vous voyez bien qu'il est retardé ! " Vous avez vu la gueule des autres ? " qu'ils ont répondu. Alors j'ai été au Viêt-nam. Et puis après... Après, c'est toute une histoire !
