Have you ever read a book you enjoy pretty well like but at the same it feels like it’s putting you in a reading slump because you can’t seem to see the end of it ? I’m halfway through but it’s taking me forever to finish it so I feel so guilty when I pick something new because I feel like I have to focus and finish it 🥲

it’s really good but the pacing is so slow  🐌

‘Who was it, Fyn?’ she asked, her voice as hard as stone. ‘Who did this to you?’

 He sat up, sniffing, considering things, not wanting tc speak that name again. Then looking at Jael's determined face, he suddenly felt reassured. Not alone. 

This background story sounded so fascinating. That’s promising ! 

“Raemus was also the first God of Magic, so that book would have been filled with every spell he knew of, every spell he conceived. And Raemus imagined magic in a dark, dark way.”

Omg Ive finally finished it 😭😭😭 

This book was so damn slow it hurt. Also so damn long, nearly 800p wtf. But did I enjoy it every time I picked it up ? Yes yes I did. 

You could feel the cold in this book, vibrant.

I loved the cast including the bad ones. Like Ivaar is an ambitious prick but he’s my prick. What can I say I kind of understand him. And he’s complex and interesting.

So imagine what I feel toward the “good” ones. Guys you can see this book was written by a woman because the women in this book they deliver ! I loved them and each of them were strong in their own way. 

Jael our FMC is a strong badass character and I can’t wait to see the role she will play when higher stakes are coming to stage. 

I loved the friendship forming between Edela and Aleksander (aka a grandma and a her granddaughter’s childhood friend). Yeah that’s pretty rare to see in a fantasy book. 

I loved the variety of age. Because I’m getting fed up by the standards in books that are “the females have to be in her early twenties and the males late twenties”. Yeah I loved the grandma having a greater role. Please make more of those.

The only reason it’s not a 5 stars is because it was way too slow and in no way I could’ve finished it quickly to save my life. the world building and the introduction of the prophecies around the book of darkness were really intriguing but we barely got a glimpse of it and we have yet to learn more. Also I understand the approach because like many fantasy series, this is the first and it was all set up for the upcoming greater story (from what I’ve seen, there’s greater things coming at play 🤞🏼)

The writing was good but the plot was so slow. I found myself skimming pages in an attempt to get to the good parts but they never came. I may try to read this again someday but it's a no from me for now.

So i feel like its games of thrones but make it viking, honestly its great 
Lovw the dreamers and what they bring and eyldis is my fav 
Its defo a book 1 though the ending is just a pause not a stop 
Its very slow paced but I didn’t even really realise it was going very slowly untill I got to around chap 40 
Biggest wtf isn’t even the actual plot its the switching pov everywhere lol
